You already know about Cursor, the AI Coding editor. It’s interesting how quickly Cursor has become the most powerful tool in a developer’s arsenal.
With $100M ARR in just 21 months, Cursor is now the fastest-growing SaaS …ever.
But AI coding editors/extensions is a highly competitive space, with new VS Code extensions coming up and newer competitors like Trae, and Windsurf. It’s hard to be the winner.
I’ve been using Cursor IDE for a while, and I love it.
Here’s why I think it stands out (at least for now) -
- A friend of mine canceled his Cursor subscription and got a thoughtful, well-written email asking for feedback. It was not like other automated emails you receive from other companies. There is one thing common in all successful companies - they care about their customers.
- Besides all the cool features, there is their ability to understand what their customers need. Before the “Agent” feature, they only had the option to chat and edit the code. So, we had to add the files to its context for it to give the best results. And then they launched “Agents” which I think is the single most powerful feature of Cursor, being able to access our entire code base and perform required actions. I’ve had instances when Cursor Agent would complete my code using a utility function that was there somewhere in my code, and I had completely forgotten about it.
- Besides the above customer-focused stuff, they have a very robust set of features. See the attached image/PDF for a list of features taken from their website.
