🤔 Do not outsource your “thinking” to AI 💭
I became so used to ChatGPT that for almost all writing tasks, I turned to it.
But now, I have three good reasons why we should not rely too heavily on AI for tasks that require creative thinking.
1. Your brain is like a muscle, it needs exercise. Neural pathways follow the rule: "Use it or lose it." If you completely stop exercising your thinking muscle, it will weaken over time. And just to remind you, thinking is what separates us from other species.
2. It lacks authenticity. If your friend does your homework for you, it doesn’t mean you did it. So if you ask AI to do it for you, it’s a robot that did the work and not you. Your real-life experiences and expertise are worth more than some random AI generated texts.
3. Expert eyes can tell when content is AI-generated (at least for now, if you're not using a good prompt). As you can see, I wrote this post—not AI. If your goal is to capture your readers' attention, sounding too robotic will only push them away.
For programmers: Do not skip learning the basics of a language or framework. Before you press the "Accept" button on Cursor, at least review the changes and make sure they make sense. Do not stop thinking.
Picture this: what would happen if you started consuming fast food every day? It might save you time, but eventually, you’d fall sick. Your mind also needs nutritious "food"—real thinking.
You get the idea.
If AI excites you, consider following—I’m planning to write more.
