If you're retyping the same background about yourself into ChatGPT every single time, stop. There's a place to put it once.
It's in Settings, under Personalization, called Custom Instructions. Two boxes. It reads both of them before every answer you ever get.
BOX ONE is who you are. Something like:
I run a (what you do) business. My customers are (who). I'm not technical. I'm usually working on (the things that eat your week).
BOX TWO is how you want it to answer. Something like:
Give me the answer first, then the explanation. Use plain language, no jargon. If you don't know something or you're guessing, say so. Keep it short unless I ask for detail.
That's it. Ten minutes, one time, and every answer from then on is closer to useful without you doing anything.
Claude has the same thing, it's called Preferences. Same idea, same payoff.
Go fill yours in and drop a comment telling me what you put in box two. I want to steal the good ones.
