🌍 Welcome to AI-Augmented Medical Educators
Dear colleagues,
You have arrived at a place that is not simply another online learning hub—it is a community, a movement, and perhaps even a new beginning for how we think about teaching medicine.
We are physicians who share a dual calling: to care for patients and to shape the next generation of doctors. But as you know, the world we teach in is shifting beneath our feet. Generative AI is no longer a distant concept—it is already influencing clinical practice, education, and even how patients learn about their own health. The question is not whether AI will enter medical education, but how we as educators will guide its integration.
This community exists to answer that question together.
Here, we are not passive consumers of technology. We are explorers, pioneers, and critical thinkers. Our purpose is not simply to master a new tool, but to ensure that AI amplifies what matters most in medical education: human connection, curiosity, rigor, and compassion.
What You Will Find Here
Our curriculum is structured with academic precision yet designed to remain dynamic and responsive to your feedback. Each module is intentionally crafted to blend the practical with the philosophical, so that you learn not only how to use AI but also why and to what end.
Free Tier
- Introduction to Generative AI – building a shared foundation.
- Prompt Engineering – transforming curiosity into skillful practice
Tier 1 (Paid)
- Applications to Medical Education – concrete strategies for curriculum design, assessment, feedback, and scholarship.
- Ethical and Responsible Use – navigating bias, privacy, professionalism, and boundaries.
Tier 2 (Paid)
- Leadership in Medical Education – preparing to guide institutions through AI integration with vision and responsibility.
- AI-Augmented Humanistic Medical Education – ensuring that technology is not an obstacle, but an ally in restoring humanity to teaching and learning.
Every lesson is anchored in three elements:
- A 5–10 minute demonstration video showing an AI prompt in action.
- A one-page reading that expands on principles, provides example prompts/activities, and poses a philosophical question for reflection.
- A brief MCQ to consolidate understanding.
Every five lessons culminate in a reflective quiz where you apply your learning by sharing the outputs of your own AI explorations. In this way, learning is both cumulative and practical.
This is not a static syllabus—it is a living curriculum. I am in the process of securing CME accreditation for these modules. In the meantime, your engagement and feedback will actively shape how these offerings grow into something not only rigorous enough for CME but also transformative enough to matter in your daily teaching practice.
Why We Gather
The deeper purpose of this space is not just skill acquisition. It is to stand at the frontier of something vast and unpredictable—together.
We will challenge each other with philosophical questions:
- What does it mean to teach in an age where knowledge can be generated on demand?
- How do we preserve curiosity, struggle, and discovery when answers are instant?
- In what ways might AI help us protect our humanity in a system that often strips it away?
These are not questions with simple answers. But in wrestling with them together, we become a community of educators who refuse to let medical education become mechanical or transactional.
Instead, we will model what is possible when physicians lead—not just follow—the evolution of teaching.
Your Role
By joining AI-Augmented Medical Educators, you are not simply here to take a course. You are part of a collective experiment: an academic and humanistic laboratory where your experiences, reflections, and creativity matter.
This is a place to:
- Share your triumphs and frustrations in experimenting with AI.
- Support one another in balancing rigor, ethics, and humanity.
- Imagine futures for medical education that none of us could create alone.
We are at the beginning of something that could reshape how generations of physicians are trained. And you are here at the ground floor.
To begin, please introduce yourself below. Tell us where you teach, and share one hope and one fear you carry about AI in medical education.
Let’s embark on this journey together: visionary, rigorous, unpredictable, and profoundly human.
Welcome.
