Most people start writing their book the same way they start a New Year’s resolution.
Full of excitement.
Ready to “just start.
”Convinced that momentum will carry them through.
And it works… for about 3 pages.
Then, reality sets in.
They don’t know what comes next.
They second-guess the order.
They start rewriting Chapter 1 for the 15th time instead of finishing Chapter 2.
Here’s the truth:
The reason you’re stuck isn’t because you’re “not a real writer.”It’s because you skipped the step that makes the writing process 10x faster: Book Mapping.
When you map your book first, you:
✅ Know exactly what belongs in every chapter
✅ Avoid wasting months on the wrong stories or examples
✅ Keep your writing focused and your reader engaged
My 4-Step Book Mapping Process
1️⃣ Start with Your Transformation
Every great book is a promise. What will the reader be able to do, know, or believe by the last page? Write that down first. This becomes your North Star.
2️⃣ Break it into Milestones
If the transformation is the destination, what are the 8–12 stepping stones to get there? These become your chapters.
3️⃣ Fill in the Chapter Blueprint
For each chapter:
- 1 story or example to grab attention
- 3 key points or lessons
- 1 actionable takeaway
- Now, you’re never staring at a blank page, you’re filling in boxes.
4️⃣ Test the Flow Ask: “If I was the reader, would this order make sense? Does it build momentum?” Rearrange until it feels like a journey, not a checklist.
Why this works: Writing without a map is like driving to a new city without GPS you might get there, but you’ll waste time, gas, and sanity along the way.
Mapping your book isn’t busywork.
It's the difference between “I’ve been working on this for 3 years” and “I finished my draft in 30 days.”
