Here’s the 5-Step AI Prompt System I use with my authors:

1️⃣ Book Vision Prompt

Tell AI exactly what your book is about, who it’s for, and what you want it to do for the reader.Example:

“You are a bestselling author and editor. Help me create a book that teaches [target audience] how to [result] in [timeframe]. Include key themes, tone, and big takeaways.”

2️⃣ Chapter Mapping Prompt

Get a full chapter outline in minutes.

Example:

“Based on this book vision, give me 10 chapter titles in a logical order, each with 3-5 bullet points of content.”

3️⃣ Scene-Building Prompt (for nonfiction or fiction)Bring your chapter to life with detail and flow.

Example:

“Expand on Chapter 3: [title]. Write 800 words that tell a story, teach a lesson, and end with an actionable takeaway.”

4️⃣ Hook & Headline Prompt

Make each chapter irresistible to read.

Example:

“Rewrite this chapter title to grab attention and make the reader curious: [chapter title]. Give me 10 options.”

5️⃣ Editing & Tightening Prompt

Polish your writing without losing your voice.

Example:

“Edit this chapter for clarity, flow, and impact. Keep my tone [describe tone], cut fluff, and highlight key phrases.”

The Point

The best authors aren’t the ones who “wait for inspiration. ”They’re the ones who know how to ask better questions—to themselves, to their readers, and yes… to AI.
