Hey everyone, Daniel here (23yo) from Denmark.
I came across Jakob a while ago, probably over a year.
After sending him a cold email with a personal Loom video asking about his journey running his agency, he sent me back a really detailed video response, extremely helpful. Since then, I have been trying to meet other people like Jakob to learn, either in the transition between work->freelance or freelance->agency, or currently running an agency.
After 2 years of making money online on the side doing various software jobs, I quit studying for my electronics and computer science degree, and went all in on just the work. Now I've been freelancing for the past 5 years doing various gigs on Upwork (great place to start!) and with my network, and I have enough relations with past clients to keep myself busy and not broke (thankfully).
I'm working on a YouTube channel to focus more on delivering specifically Shopify dev services. (YT: @daniel.holler). The goal with this channel is to make videos just like Jakob but for Shopify. Then use this to generate so much work that I can begin to charge premiums, and then slowly build this into an agency. My first few videos seem well received, but I am still a beginner in the content game, so there is lots to learn from Jakob and everyone else here! One big issue I have been having the entire time doing freelancing is that it's much more difficult to offer services in any area of software/web development, so that's why I'm niching in on Shopify.
I have my first Shopify specific client - a migration project from another platform to Shopify - which I'm very excited about.
There are not many groups to come across like this one, so it's nice to be a part of the community with you all.
Nice to meet you all, and hope to see you on the next group call!
