First Game from my sister’s Unity Book done!
In another Post, I told you about the burnout and my sister’s book. I just „finished“ the first two chapters as the author said. If you don’t know me, that means: A ball, controllable with arrow keys, and the words „add some obstacles“. What did I do? I Added: •a Maze of Blocks, •A red target block that does nothing, but you must reach it to win • A Camera Follower which rotates the camera with the player, • Simple Textures You see, I only followed the tutorial which was about: Nothing of the above…😀 Play it on itch under julius-otterbach.itch.io and select my newest game! Would love to hear feedback!
Back after Burnout
I am still at my third 1-Week game. You may have noticed that this was much longer than one week. This is because I had overworked myself and wuit Unity entirely for about two weeks, but now now I‘m back! Am I continuing on my current game asap? Nope. My sister brought me a Unity Books from the Library, and told me I MUST try it (sisters will be sisters). So, I am coming in 12 Chapters with a little game and then returning to my huge Codemonkey One. Progress Updates Coming.
Game #2
Link: julius-otterbach.itch.io/escape-the-maze I tried to speedrun this one. The objective: Escape three simple mazes. To open the exit, simply collect every single orb. A orb counter at the Top tells you about your progress. What went well: Fun development No scope creep, only core features! What could’ve been better: Graphics: The wall graphics are kind of … stretchy. Sometimes, the exit hitbox is too big Used Asset Player Control instead of new one Tell me what you think about this game!
First Game!
Link: julius-otterbach.itch.io/robot-escape So this one was quite a struggle. I completely underestimated the time it would take to make such a project and also, I tried absorbing any piece it gave me just to then realise the series was unfinished. But: Core loop works. What I have: 3d 3rd person endless runner with jump, collectibles and speed up function (speed * 1% per second). What went well: • learned a ton • Once I got into coding, i didn’t wanna stop • understood some c# • Started to integrate game dev into my day What didn‘t go to well: • Had a 3 Day pause from last tutorial to this one • Followed very exactly • Underestimated the time it would take to follow up • didn’t keep the deadline, planned to reexpand the expansion, but managed to stop Looking forward to the next Project!
