Accurate estimating isn’t just about numbers — it directly impacts the homeowner’s ability to restore their property correctly.
When an estimate is missing key components, measurements, or documentation, it can lead to:
❌ Scope reductions❌ Delayed approvals❌ Out-of-pocket costs for the homeowner❌ Incomplete repairs❌ Ongoing leaks or system failures
A roof is a system, not just shingles or membrane. That means every component matters:
- Underlayment
- Flashing
- Drip edge
- Starter course
- Ventilation
- Accessories and transitions
If it’s part of the system, it must be inspected, measured, and documented.
📸 Photos are just as important as the estimate. Carriers don’t approve what they can’t see. Every claim file should include:
✔ Wide shots for context✔ Medium shots for component visibility✔ Close-ups for condition and detail
Remember this principle:
