Handyman Tip of the Day!
When drilling into drywall, always use a stud finder first. Anchors are fine for light items, but if you’re hanging something heavy (like a TV, large mirror, or shelving), you want to secure it into a stud. A 50-inch TV on drywall anchors alone is a recipe for disaster.
👉 Pro tip: If you don’t have a stud finder, try the “knock test.” Tap along the wall—hollow sounds mean no stud, solid sounds mean you found one. Studs are usually 16” apart on center in most modern homes.
Save yourself from costly wall repairs by taking an extra minute to find the stud!
