🎅Q4 Plan & A Question
Thanks @Abbie Cornall that was a very thought-provoking session today - diverting to a Christmas focus for now My plan for next 4 weeks is to pick my Mom (and Dad) Life Story books Can I get some cover design direction - the best seller is this floral one (orange/ brown one) but a plain stylish one does well too (lilac one) I started with floral - long way to go (pink one) But would be so much easier (and as efffective) to go plain with fab fonts Mom and Dad versions would also feel more like a series if both were plain What does anyone think? @Abbie Cornall My idea to differentiate is a Share Your Story© Mom & Dad Journal, and a Nan & Grandpa one for starters. I asked Chatty BLT, who said Two-in-One Concept (YES — huge potential!) 🚀 Why Your “Two-in-One” Is Gold - Newness: No one has really done it yet at scale. - Value: Families save money by buying one book instead of two. - Emotion: Seeing both parents’ or grandparents’ stories side-by-side creates richer family history. - Gift appeal: More meaningful, more sharable, more premium-feeling. I think a modern luxe feel works to stand out. This is a concept, not design. Would appreciate your view. Wx
Fiver book interior formatters?
Can anyone recommend someone to set up a KDP template in Canva, take a word script, and fill the template - cost-effectively It is for a friend but come to think of it......!! Wx 🩷

What happens to your books after you die!
Sorry to be morbid - or perhaps just practical - but this popped into my inbox today from Rachel Harrison Sund so thought I would share What happens to your Amazon KDP account—and any future royalties—after you die? This question had never been a thought bubble popping out from my noggin until a student brought it up in one of our Q&A calls (shoutout to Pam!). But the reality is that, if you don't have a plan in place, your loved ones might never see a penny from the books you worked so hard to create. In my latest video, I break down: - Exactly what happens to your KDP account after you pass away - The specific steps you should take RIGHT NOW to protect your books and make sure future royalties reach your family - What happens if your account is under an LLC or corporation instead of your personal name (this is a VERY different thing) It’s not the most glamorous part of self-publishing, but it’s knowledge every self-publisher using KDP should know. Watch the video here now. Wx 🩷
Cover direction - Luxury or Minimalist
@Abbie Cornall (only when well) And anyone else interested, please may I ask some advice I am creating in the profitable "Home Apothecary" niche and using this "Holistic Guide to Wellness" in the adjacent niche of "Natural Remedies" as my reference image It makes $97,875.00 pm – 2631 reviews My points of difference are adding Homeopathy (I am a homeopath), Superfoods, and First Aid Wisdom to Herbal Remedies and Aromatherapy (all the competitors focus on these two) And focusing on Common Ailments and Persistent Symptoms - more everyday issues that are safe to self-treat I have two directions to go in, cover-wise (real drafts at mo/ lots of work to be done) A. Luxury - the green one 💚 B. Modern Minimalist - the blue one 💙 Which would you take to Canva to develop further? Wendy x

KDP Uploading - Tears Before Bedtime 😭🤣
Does such a thing exist as a step by step with screengrabs about how to set up, say a 6x9 book front cover, full cover, and inside pages on Canva and then upload successfully to KDP? KDP guidance is a bit hopeless if you are using Canva not their design/ word docs I am doing a WYR series and have been going around in circles re page set up/ margins/ gutters and bleed - this is hair pulling stuff! I am trying to log a process to remember for future such as below but think the most important thing is the set up right on Canva to start with and I feel I am in a margin muddle! Wx 🩷 MY NOTES Size 6" x 9" - Full Cover = 12.52 x 9.25 - BETTER TO CREATE DESIGNS ON FULL COVER VS FRONT COVER THEN UPLOAD TO FULL COVER? Or if the latter how do we do that Canva - File/ settings/ show margins/ show rulers and guides To do left hand margin have to drag from right across to left To do bottom margin have to drag from top down to bottom Beware no images over spine or edges MAKE SURE PAGE NUMBERS ARE INSIDE MARGIN (Automated ones appear outside - had to drag all in one by one) Check fit by lowering KDP template over design and then reducing transparency so can see doesn’t go over any of the red/ pink lines Download as PDF Print/ CMYK Title and subtitle must match front cover title word for word
