Mourning the Perfect Holiday
Here is a hard truth: Something will go wrong this week. - Someone will get sick. - Someone will get grumpy. - The food might burn. If we cling to the image of a "Perfect Hallmark Christmas," we will end up resentful. Let’s mourn the "Perfect Holiday" right now so we can enjoy the Real one. The Real one has mess, and noise, and flaws... but it also has moments of genuine connection if we are looking for them. Mantra for the week: "I choose Connection over Perfection."

connection is way more important to perfection; l learned a long time ago that the word perfection was something that just didn't happen on 73% of the time. The rest was with my grandparents which was the closest to perfection that we got. Being the oldest of five children something would go wrong even in the present it is hard for us to get together and never fails someone just isnt into it so the lord has taught me that the meaning of Christmas is more about spending time with the ones you love and not to get upset if someone is having a bad day. I come from a large family in fact the word large does not so it justice. When i was 14 I went to my Great Grandmothers funeral and at the time she was survived by 13 children, 100 grandchildren and over 100 Great Grandchildren. and now I am 53 That is not including anyone that is not even looking at the other families im looking for a blessed Christmas even if it is me and God I plan on enjoying the day Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and da happy New Year.
What Are You NOT Doing?
We all have "To-Do" lists. Today, I want you to make a "To-Don't" list. To survive the final week before Christmas, some things have to go. - I am NOT baking from scratch. - I am NOT sending cards this year. - I am NOT cleaning the baseboards before guests arrive. Permission Granted: Lower the bar. Focus on connection, not perfection. Question: What is one thing you are officially crossing OFF your list today?

I am not dealing with extended family drama such as dealing with my ex and his family i know that sounds bad keeping connected for grandkids or kids events that we get invited to when we are at the same place such as weddings we my ex , his wife and me put our feelings aside for the most part so that the event does not get ruined his family and my oldest daughter tend to be Narcissistic about life. like i said no family drama and i am looking forward to not have to deal with them on Christmas unless my daughter decides on reaching out to me, not likely I know it might sound like I'm stuck in the past but i am not just trying to be civil. Gods now in charge of all that, because i am hopefully going to have better things to do on Christmas I know there is a lot to unpack there, wanting to let you guys know that I'm not stuck in the past and i am extremely ecstatic with that Merry Christmas
The "Ugly" Ornament
Every tree has one. It’s the macaroni star from 1998 that is falling apart. It’s the creepy elf that stares at you. It’s the pickle hidden in the branches. (Yes, we have that pickle ornament! Whoever finds if first on Christmas morning, gets to open the first present) We want to see the "Real Life" side of your holiday decor! Comment below: Describe the weirdest or ugliest ornament that you insist on putting on the tree every single year. Why do you keep it?

The Great Debate: Christmas Music
We need a mid-week temperature check because things are getting serious out there in the shopping aisles! There are two types of people in this world: 1. Those who have been blasting Mariah Carey since November 1st. 2. Those who think Christmas music is illegal until 2 weeks before the day. Poll Time: What is the ONE Christmas song you could listen to on repeat, and what is the ONE song that makes you want to cover your ears? (I’m looking at you, "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer"
)

My high school sweetheart and I have been together going on 15 years! We have 2 kids ages 3 and 10 months! Currently I’m thankful for his drive! He goes to work daily and is excellent at what he does allowing me to stay home with our babies!
