Healing Sauna Retreat Center
Hello everyone! We have a farm in SE Ohio, and we are starting an on-site sauna healing retreat center. I am an acupuncturist and herbalist, so of course there will be lots of classes and treatments as well. Here is a pic of our little garden and propagation area. We made everything ourselves (except for the ancient barn). It was just grass when we moved here a few years ago. Anyways, looking forward to building some cobin saunas and sharing the journey here!

@Sir Cobalot Yes, multiple saunas and spring-fed cold plunges! There are no building codes here, so it would be a fantastic place for some workshops! We raise sheep, too, so we are hoping to try out some wool insulation in the pallets.

@Matt Brna Ha! It does look like a mailbox. It was a greenhouse made from cattle panels and plastic sheeting, but it was too difficult to regulate the temps, so I covered it in 2 layers of 1/4" plywood and threw some old windows on it. In hindsight, I should have used ferrocement, but that is what I will cover it with in a few years.

This is a great way to control the soil and give them the acid that they like, though! I put mine in grow bags with acid soil and sink them in the ground.

Cobin site. Has anyone done a greenhouse roof with a cobin?
Hello, this is a picture of the site for my cobin that will be my greenhouse and Art Studio in colorado. I'm currently leveling the ground and digging out a trench for a french drain since the site is at the bottom of a hill. I'm also collecting pallets and I'm planning for the roof to be part living room and parts triple layer polycarbonate to let light in. Has anyone done a roof like that before?

I have been considering doing a zome roof on top of a cobin. It would take some configuring to have an overhang, but I bet it can be done. It would look like a huge ice cream cone.

Making a round opening in a pallet wall
Just thought I’d share this little video with you all of how I make a round opening in a pallet wall. It’s easier to do it on the ground before being put up on the wall but it can be done in place as well. I’ll put either a nice round stain glass in the hole or plexiglass screwed to the outside
