Quick one for everyone… What was the first RC that really got you hooked? - RTR or kit? - Tamiya, Kyosho, Traxxas, Associated…? - Racing, bashing, or car park chaos? 😄 So many of the racers I’ve spoken to started with a Tamiya kit and actually began racing with those — curious to see if that’s the same story here. RTR

I have had a long break from RC cars etc, When I was young (30 years ago) and competing the RC world was full of kits, now all the big brands are RTR models- surely this takes a lot of the passion out of it?

I remember when I was very young having RTR cars, cheap ones which got me hooked, when I was maybe 12 I had a Tamiya Manta Ray which was the first kit I ever had, that was great fun. I started competing when a I was about 13 with Tamiya touring cars and a Kyosho 4wd kit, the Kyosho was fast back in the day and won me a few races. Good times back then!

Yeah that Kyosho was something else, It was a lazer zx if I remember correctly, The only cars that would beat it at the time were Boss cats but my budget wouldn't stretch that far.
