What’s your day job?
We are all here to start or grow a YouTube channel, maybe to earn some extra income or bring traffic to an existing business, or maybe as a hobby. But what are you doing now to pay the bills? What is your main gig? I am currently working for a company that makes conveyor belts for all kinds of industries. I work in customer service and sales. It’s alright, but I’m looking forward to growing my channel and this community and making a full-time income from YouTube + Skool! 😎 What about you?? **REMINDER** this is a PUBLIC community, so don’t give out personal information here!! Only share what you are comfortable with anyone knowing. (In case anyone misses this disclaimer, I will help clean up any comments that share too much detail) Okay back to the salt mines for me 😂

I do drawings on a computer. I draw just about anything that has to do with architecture. Houses, kitchens, bathrooms, custom built-ins, etc.
What The Matrix can teach us about YouTube
EDIT: I actually made and published this video. I’m documenting the performance of it as well as the copyright dispute process, arguing that it should not be subject to a copyright claim under “Free Use” since the video is primarily a commentary on the original work. You can watch the video here if you like: What The Architect Scene in The Matrix ACTUALLY Means https://youtu.be/L4L68JOmr30 Original Post: What is the secret to why these YouTube videos all did so well? This isn’t a lecture; I’m asking you. What do you think is the reason? Trend surfing can only account for the one about the upcoming 5th installment. Is it the titles and thumbnails? Is it the topic? Or is it that fact that millions of people know and love The Matrix and it’s characters, and could rewatch it over and over and still enjoy it? Another important question here is, are these videos able to be monetized? Are they eligible for monetization under the “free use” clause, or are they suppressed due to copyright strikes? I’m actually not totally sure. I’m thinking of making a video like these and testing it on my other YouTube channel to see what happens. I haven’t made a “video essay” made from movie clips before, but I do love a good challenge and a good experiment, and this would be both. If y’all have knowledge or experience in this niche, please share what you know in the comments, or tell us your best guess as to why these videos do so well and how it can be applied to other YouTube niches. Let’s see how far the rabbit hole goes 😉

🕵️‍♀️ The Antique Detective - a NewTuber Success Story
I want to take a moment to shout out @Debra Morra, one of the first NewTubers in this community. Debra joined this group with only a great idea for a YouTube channel and a willingness to learn and seek out help along the way. She had never made a YouTube video before, never edited, never made a thumbnail… but she didn’t let that stop her. Debra knew that YouTube was becoming increasingly popular for TV viewers, and channels that lean into the “TV show” style could have an advantage. She wanted to visit antique shops all over, meet with the owners, discover hidden treasures, and share their stories with the world. Debra reached out to me immediately after joining NewTubers and asked to book a call. She told me her dream for her YouTube channel, and told me which parts she needed help with. I was able to give Debra personalized help with everything from channel artwork and branding, to thumbnail design and help with titles, to sessions where we would edit videos together, and more. Every session was aimed at helping her learn and master the many core YouTube skills needed to grow a channel, and that’s exactly what she did. Just a few months in, and Debra has published 25 videos, gained almost 700 subscribers, and has already reached her 4000-hour watch time goal on the path to monetizing her YouTube channel. She has been uploading consistently, and stuck with one niche idea from the beginning, and both of these things have served her well on her YouTube journey so far. I invite you to join me in congratulating Debra on her progress so far. She’s really been killing it, and I can’t wait to see how far she will go! Such a great idea for a YT channel
Private YouTube videos
Is there a way to post videos on YT that aren't public? I'd like to be able to make videos for my clients and then post them to YT for access, but I don't want them to be public. Is there a way to do this on YT or do I need to do something different to host the videos?
