Coaching Thoughts
What's one thing you've been thinking about as a coach lately? Could be something you're trying to improve, a challenge you're working through, or just an idea that's been on your mind. The season is approaching quickly! How's everybody feeling?

@Joseph Wunder My standards varies. I want them to arrive early. In the Bahamas schools get out at 3 so they only get 15 mins to change and do what they have to do. I want the give max effort doing the drills. I want them to be respectful so cursing is a no no. I want them be coachable so no attitude or bad behavior that goes from team captain to the 15 man on the team. I want them to communicate with each other and not no row each other if one made a mistake on the court.

Spain Going Well 🇪🇸
What’s up fam! Checking in at 5pm in Spain. It’s Day 2 of camp over here. It’s been a grind but getting some great work in. The structure is: Morning: Double Espresso shot and a Croissant 2.5 hour skill session led by myself and Atlanta Hawks Assistant Coach. Mid-Day: Beach time Night: 2.5 hour skill session 😅 We have 21 players from Spain, Italy, Israel, USA, and more It’s been a great experience, can’t wait to share with everyone

Engaging Warm-ups
Warm-ups are essential before practice and training for a few reasons, but they are often done wrong. Warm-ups include the following: 1. Warm up the body (most obvious reason) 2. Prepare the body for demands seen in the sport 3. Mentally prepare/engage athlete I see #2 and #3 either done wrong or skipped in most training or practices. A light jog does not prepare the body for the demands of basketball, nor does it mentally prepare and engage athletes. Personally, I love to get the body moving for 1-2 minutes, then hit some Isometrics to prepare the muscles and tendons for the demands of basketball (tons of deceleration, stopping, and accelerating), then some partner warm-up series where we start to compete with each other and engage the mind. How do you guys prepare your athletes? What are some fun warm-ups you can share?

I do more dynamic stretching have them moving from baseline to half court line jogging or walking lunges with a twist. Also do walking on toes and heels with hands up. Defensively side from corner baseline to free throw elbow and den to halfcourt

@Joseph Wunder Tbh it’s a train thing so they know that’s what we start off with but I am looking for different ways to start warming up so I will check out Celtics and timberwolves warm up
