I think maybe
Might be time to stop calling these palette knife paintings an experiment and make it my thing. I really enjoy the process of painting like this, which to me is just as important as the results. 11" x 14" oil on arches oil paper

@Loreen Pawlak thanks! As my wife says, just wait two weeks and I'll be trying another style. It's all still experimenting to me. 😃 But that first one I did won a cash award in a show, and the red building plein air I did which was half palette knife and half brushwork took best in show out of 70 entries and was sold. My guess is I'll end up in the middle, brush and palette combined.
Another palette knife experiment
This is about 95% palette knife painted. 11'x14" oil on arches oil paper.

Another Plein Air
A 10"x8" plein air oil painting. I'm not sure how people crank out paintings in a couple hours outside. I've gone back several days for my paintings so far.

@Gloria Murphy yes, it's an old ice house from the 1880's. Now a performing arts venue.

@Patrick McSherry Two days for 2 hours and one day for 1 hour. So about 5 hours total.

Hmmm, work in progress? There is really something awesome about this as it is now!

@Ariana Ragugini I don't know what it is, but when I look at this, it just gives me a relaxing positive vibe. What kind of trickery have you done here. 😉
A thought
It just occurred to me (to be totally honest, while looking at Shane's work- yikes, thanks Shane 🤣) that I can never be as skilled as some of you are. But that's not the point, is it? To me, the point is that each of us is driven by some inner desire to create and share what we see. We can all improve, and it's so fantastic that we do. But at a fundamental level, we're all artists, with artistic minds. And those are the types of folks that I connect with, whether I've met them face to face or not. OK, sorry for the interruption. Carry on.

I believe it was in a Matthew White video, one rule he has is never compare yourself to other artists. Only compare your current work to your past work. I think that's some sound advice. Art is subjective and we're all at a different place in our journey, so just keep aspiring to improve yours.
