Do you perform for little ones?
I perform mostly for daycares and preschools. One tip I would give is to bring an extra puppet that you can let the kids try. They are often curious about how the puppet’s work.
Anyone using AI?
I’ve started using it for creating posters and flyers. Because it creates images based on me and my characters, I’m not “stealing” from anyone.
Ever had kids afraid of what you wore?
I did a library tour once and wore a Spiderman shirt open over a t-shirt. One library had a little guy crying. His mom apologized. He was terrified of spiders even Spiderman, so I just took the shirt off and he was fine.
Kids Who Are Afraid of Your Puppets
Sometimes kids get afraid of the puppets. Whenever this happens, I always stop the show and demonstrate the puppet is a puppet. This puts the little ones at ease. And I also give them a tiny ventriloquist lesson too. Have any of you encountered this and how did you combat it?

Mark Wade tells a great story about a snake puppet he had. It had fangs like a real snake and freaked kids out. He had the teeth changed to goofy cartoon teeth and no more problems
Favorite Vents?
Who are some of your favorite vents from the past or now that you think people should know about?

My mentor Peter Rolston, my late friend Jimmy Nelson. My current favourites would be Ronn Lucas and Jay Johnson. From England there’s Steve Hewlett and Max Fulham.
