My son is currently obsessed with superheroes, we've got a new one each hour currently, so, if you could choose your outdoor superpower, what would it be?

What do you wish schools taught more of?
I have my opinions on schools, having worked in/ with schools throughout the years, however, I'd be interested to know what you all think schools should be teaching more of these days?

Really great question, thought I’d vote for something other than agriculture 😅 I do think financial management is massively undertaught in school. Once I left school it was a real eye opener for me

@Lisa O'Brien if I am honest, I think we are moving towards a very controlled lifestyle. If everyone works in an office, pays by card and doesn’t know how to manage any of their own finances or other important aspects then the government has exactly what they want 🤷🏻‍♂️
How do you feel about farming?
Hey everyone, thanks for having me! As you are all outdoorsy people I thought this would be a great place to start from those who enjoy nature, I would really appreciate any thoughts and opinions (good or bad!) about farming! I’m from the UK but just as interested in any thoughts from those overseas. Do you back your local farmers and support them? Is farming viewed well for you or does it lack support? do you buy locally from farmers and markets or do you only shop and large commercial supermarkets? are there any questions you have about farming? I’m really keen on promoting farming and education people about where their food comes from and the work that goes into creating food. as well as educating people on common misconceptions about our work. Lastly, how does farming affect you and your outdoor adventures? Do you enjoy walks around the country and seeing farms in action? Thankyou for any input!

@Pauline Leitch very well said, it’s really good to hear people that truly understand Whats going on. Personally yes it’s just sheep for me. I don’t own a farm just rented ground so at the moment thats about all I can do myself. Looking to go into cattle aswell soon but as you can imagine finding grazing and shed space isn’t easy or cheap! In terms of what else I do, I work for a few other people. Mainly for an agricultural contracting business which involves most aspects of arable farming, aswell as a lot of silaging, hay making ect. Do bits here and there for other farmers when it’s busy, We also do some mowing (as in garden mowing) for 10ish local farms just to keep things moving aswell as keeping contracting customers happy with a nice lawn. Me and my friend Ashton who’s helping run the community also help manage an estate to keep us busy! So quite a mix really. All farming or closely related to when the farming is quieter as unfortunately the bills don’t quieten down Just because the weather is bad 😅

@Pauline Leitch I agree I could talk about this endlessly! The community living spaces sound like a great idea. No reason that couldn’t be you! Been lovely talking to you, I will leave it at that for now but I’m sure I will be back here shortly. Thanks again for allowing me into this community, it’s a brilliant thing you are creating.

Hi all, I’m Noah from the midlands UK I’m a young farmer with a flock of sheep. I also work for an agricultural contractor. I’m really passionate about teaching others about where their food comes from and encouraging buying local food.
