Boxing Day
Not that Boxing Day is something that we celebrate in the States, I am a bit curious about it. My understanding is that it's a day of sort of casting off the extras of Christmas Day and sharing it with those who need it (or want it). In some ways, I think we actually do that in our home...to some degree. By evening, I found we were already putting away and giving away some gifts that didn't actually serve us currently. I found myself looking into my refrigerator early this morning and thinking, "Oh, wow. I so need a reset." Time to clear out old, clean out the mess and start fresh. I'm not doing it yet, but thinking about. And the rest extends far beyond the refrigerator. How about you? What thoughts are going through your head this Boxing Day?

That’s an interesting take on boxing day. I like it and don’t think I’ve heard it put that way before. We celebrate it here in Canada, but it is promoted more like the day for retailers to mark down and liquidate extra stock before end of year. In many ways similar to Black Friday in the U.S., just a little less hardcore.
One more cozy treat to have on hand
After countless requests from friends, I've finally dropped my old fashioned Oatmeal Cookie recipe on YouTube. These are the ultimate Oatmeal Cookies that are chewy, crispy-edged, that can be sized just the way you like them. These bad boys have been my secret weapon for years—perfect for snack attacks, family gatherings, or just treating yourself. If you are an oatmeal cookie enthusiast, what's your go-to add-in for oatmeal cookies? Raisins, chocolate chips, nuts, or something wild like cranberries? I've added raisins, chocolate chips and even butterscotch chips, but my favorite is just plain Jane.

@Hope Stephens Yes. It is good. But if you want the crispiness, you can't put them in too early or smash them up too much into the dough. Or like the last time I made them, measure wrong and added too much liquid to the dough. 😬

@Hope Stephens yeah....
Just talked myself down...
You are looking at the proud face of a woman who opted for the healthier and more frugal option of clementines that were in her cooler rather than caving to the roadtrip junk food options she wanted.

What's cooking?
Last night I thought I was getting ahead for Christmas Day and whipped up a batch of sausage balls from scratch. Only, it has been a log time since I've made them or even had them. They smelled so good that I could not help myself. I had one, then two, then..."Oh heck, I'll make another batch for Christmas. We are eating them now!" What holiday treats are you eating today or eagerly anticipating?
