The main reason is that IS has a much wider reach than KDP. With IS, my books will automatically be available on KDP and available to libraries, retailers and I can set up my own shop. But also so I can rename them in the proper order: series name then individual volume title. I did it wrong the first time 😅

@Rae Merritt thanks for this advice! I appreciate all the knowledge I can get. Re-launching on KDP is my goal after I launch on IS. I've got some 5 star reviews I really don't want to lose!

Hi all. I’m Melle and I write epic fantasy with undertones of romance and fate. One interesting thing to know about me is that I’m currently trying to navigate from construction work to writing full time.

@Rae Merritt it definitely helps when describing cities and architecture. I absolutely leaned into that knowledge when sketching out the map, palaces, and villages in my world. One aspect of conversion I didn't expect was learning that writing and publishing has its own version of sub-contractors. Instead of plumbers and electricians, I now have to find and hire editors, beta readers, cover artists, etc.
