Thank you @Alisha Michele! You are welcome. I appreciate you asking! My favorite food is tacos. 🌮🌮For the past year or so, I tend to make more medleys or protein bowls. Depending on what's in my refrigerator and/or my cabinets, that's how I will create my meals. For awhile, I used to write my menu for the week and post it on my refrigerator. I might make chicken and add cabbage, mushrooms, red onions, tomatoes, and brussel sprouts. One day I might make fajitas with my onions, mushrooms, peppers, along with taking my tomatoes and peppers to make homemade salsa. Another day I might make homemade pizza and use my tomatoes to make homemade pizza sauce. I found this gluten free and dairy free cauliflower pizza crust at Kroger in the freezer aisle that is pretty good. Sometimes I might make fried chicken (gluten free oat flour) with mashed sweet potatoes and homemade coleslaw. When I feel up to it, I will make some Chinese food with whatever veggies that I have and add the water chestnuts and/or bean sprouts and make homemade egg rolls. Sometimes I will make homemade chicken noodle soup. A few days ago I made chicken pasta salad with red lentil pasta noodles. A couple of days ago i made a BBQ chicken salad 🥗with romaine lettuce, red cabbage, red pepper, green olives, black olives, tomatoes, and green onions with poppyseed dressing. When it comes to storage: - Soak for at least ten minutes in water with baking soda and a little peroxide. I used to use baking soda and white vinegar but that combo turns into a gas. - Tomatoes 🍅- wash and leave on container or place in a fruit stand. When I go to the farmer's market, I purposely buy them a little unripe so I can leave them by my patio to ripen. - Lettuce🥬 and cabbage - I place in Ziploc bag unwashed. Washing browns them much faster. Depending on how much lettuce, I do have a fruit/veggie container. - Avocadoes🥑 - leave out until ripens a bit and then place in refrigerator so they don't over ripen. Known to REDUCE LEAD LEVELS - Potatoes🥔🍠 and Onions🧅 - I personally wash and place them loose in the crisper of the refrigerator. It is recommended to place in a dry cool place. When I'm ready to cook my potatoes, I will leave out for about 30 minutes before I use to cook. If I have a cut onion leftover, I wrap it in dry paper towel and it typically stays fresh for 2-3 days. - Grapes🫐- Wash and place in a storage container. - Cherries🍒 - Wash and place them in a storage container. Food that REDUCES CYSTS - Berries🍓 - I wash them and place in a fruit storage container. Half I place in the refrigerator and the other half I place in the freezer for my smoothies. - Mushrooms🍄🟫 - I wash and place half of them whole in a Ziploc bag and the other half, I cut and place in a Ziploc bag in the freezer. if you happen to open a container of mushrooms, place a dry paper towel and wrap a rubber band around the open container so the mushrooms will last a little longer. - Okra - Wash and place them in a loose in a Ziploc container. - Brussel Sprouts - Wash and place them loose in a Ziploc bag in the refrigerator. If I have plenty. I will wash, cut in half and place in the freezer. - Lemons🍋and Limes🍋🟩- wash and place them loose in the crisper. If I run out of room, I sometimes place them in the door of my refrigerator. - Watermelon🍉 & Pineapple 🍍- as soon as I cut it, I cut the whole thing and place in a storage container. Pineapple is good for freezing also. - Peppers🫑🌶️, Zucchini, Squash, Eggplant, and Cucumbers🥒 - After washing, I let them dry like in the pictures you saw, and I wrap each one individually in dry paper towel and place them in a Ziploc bag according to their size. With the paper towel method, these veggies and fruits typically last from 10 days to two weeks without going brown, mushy, or shriveling up. Depending on how much zucchini, squash, eggplant, and Hungarian peppers that I have, I will cut some, place them into Ziploc bags and freeze them.
