September challenge: Animals 🐶🦄🐥🐴
We have a winner! 👀🐾 ANIMALS is going to be the theme for next month! 🎉🔥 Ready… set… GO! 🎨🔥 There are NO rules. 🫢 Paint a dog, a cat, a bird, a wild animal, your favourite pet, a completely imaginary creature… whatever makes you want to pick up your brush! You can create one artwork or as many as you like throughout the month. ❤️ Different styles, different mediums, different interpretations — that’s exactly what makes this so much fun. There’s no right or wrong way to do it! So grab your paints, pencils, pastels, or whatever you love to create with… Let’s make some animals! 🐶🐱🦊🐘🐦 👇 Post your artwork under this post so we can all see what you’re creating! ✨ Post your work on Instagram for a little extra exposure — and so we can easily find and support each other’s work! ‼️ Don’t forget to use these two hashtags under your post: #messyartsquad #artsquadseptemberchallenge I can’t wait to see all the different animals, styles and crazy ideas you come up with. ❤️🔥 Let’s create! 🎨✨ 🗳️ LET’S VOTE! It’s time to choose our September Challenge! 🎨✨ I’ve picked three themes, and I want YOU to decide what we’ll all be creating together this month. 🍓 PICNIC — think sunny days, food, blankets, flowers & good vibes 🏡 HOME — your favourite place, a cosy corner, or what “home” means to you 🐾 ANIMALS — pets, wild animals, funny creatures… anything goes! Which one would you love to paint or draw? 👇 Vote below! 🗳️ The theme with the most votes wins! 🏆🎨

I did it! I made animals on Ts fir grandkids. Maybe I need to make granny sized ones. LoL. More kids T Tacky spray holds it then dab acrylic paint. I used permanent marker to outline. Actually a fairly simple thing to do. Hot ironing with parchment paper on it at end is harder lol. I used to use a fabric paint and acrylic paint medium for fabric painting but honestly seems okay not using it is fine

🎨 OPEN ROOM — LET PEOPLE KNOW WHEN YOUR IN🤞
Not a class. Not a workshop. Just the feeling of not creating alone. ❤️ Pop in anytime to paint, draw, sketch or create. Someone may be there, or maybe not — and that’s totally okay! 😊 But if you go in, let people know you’re there! It makes it easier for others to join you. 🎨 Decided last minute to go in? Drop a comment below and let everyone know you’re heading in. ⬇️ If you know what time you’ll be there until, even better — but it’s absolutely not mandatory. 🕐 Know in advance when you’ll be in? Add your times in the comments below, and please include the time for your country so others can easily see when that is for them. For example: 🇫🇷 Paris — 10:00–12:00 🇬🇧 UK — 09:00–11:00 🇺🇸 New York — 04:00–06:00 🇺🇸 Los Angeles — 01:00–03:00 🇨🇦 Toronto — 04:00–06:00 🇦🇺 Sydney — 18:00–20:00 No agenda. No pressure. No need to be “productive.” Just artists creating together. ❤️ Last but not least… ☕🎨 We also have our Coffee & Art on Tuesday from 18:30–19:30 Paris time. ❤️ Make sure you join the right call! 😊 The Open Studio is also open at the same time, so there will be two different calls running simultaneously. ☕ Coffee & Art: Tuesday, 18:30–19:30 🎨 Open Studio: open as usual So if you’re coming for Coffee & Art, double-check that you’re clicking the Coffee & Art call. 😉 Can’t wait to see you there! ❤️

Coffee & Art on Color Theory
Thank you @Ann Lyon @Sabine Devlin @Ozge Gul @Mandy Lily A Small recap: THE COLOR WHEEL Primary 🔴 Red · 🟡 Yellow · 🔵 Blue Secondary 🟠 Orange · 🟢 Green · 🟣 Purple Warm vs Cool - Warm → energy, warmth, closeness - Cool → calm, distance, quiet 💡 Remember: A color can feel warmer or cooler depending on what is next to it. COMPLEMENTARY Opposites on the wheel: - Red + Green - Blue + Orange - Yellow + Purple → Contrast / energy / drama ANALOGOUS Next to each other: - Blue + Turquoise + Green → Harmony / calm MONOCHROMATIC One color + lighter/darker versions → Cohesion / atmosphere HUE • VALUE • SATURATION HUE = Which color? VALUE = How light or dark? Ask: 👉 If I turn my painting black & white, does it still work? Value apps are handy. SATURATION = How intense or muted? Think: 🔥 “SCREAMING” = saturated 🤫 “WHISPERING” = desaturated 💡 VALUE often matters more than the exact color. STOP CHOOSING COLORS INDIVIDUALLY Instead of: ❌ “What color should I put here?” Ask: ✅ “What does this color need to DO?” Need something to POP? → complementary / more saturated Need it to RECEDE? → cooler / less saturated Need HARMONY? → analogous colors Need TENSION? → unexpected color / strong contrast ⭐ KEY! You don’t need more colors. You need better relationships between colors. “There are no ugly colors. Sometimes they’re just in the wrong relationship.” Experiment. Break the rules. See what happens.

Keith Richards playing guitar lol Great session, great recap of what you taught. I took notes. Ive never really put thought into my art just went aling with my whims. Its been 40+ years since studying this in high school and 40 year of not applying much of it. Im going to start exploring depth perception with warm and cool colours. Think Ill just use a random pre-drawn colouring page from book so ive no goals other than warm & cool on perception of depth.
