Vimto Clear Whey
This stuff is currently £10 a tub on Tesco clubcard instead of £16, so a really bargain. No idea how long for but I got myself a couple of tubs today

Best laid plans
Today I planned to go to the gym, go swimming and then potter round at home. Kids decided after school they wanted to go for a bike ride and take the rounders set to play. Then later on after dinner my middle daughter randomly says mum come on another bike ride with me. So today I've done a gym workout, 30 mins swim, gardening, housework, rounders and an hour or so bike riding. I may not move again! But I could feel the muscles working, possibly feel it worse in the morning.....

Park run
This Saturday I plan to do my first park run, well park walk with some light jogging. I would never have done this a few months ago but I now feel ready to give it a go. And it's my birthday so what an excellent day to try something new 😊

Stepping into the week...
Big win to kick off the week - 12 miles (+29,000 steps) walking from Gloucester to Cheltenham this morning to visit parents. Route measured 11.6 miles, so I went back out a little later to top it up to just over 12. That’s the longest walk I’ve done in a very long while, and it’s all part of my prep for the Malvern marathon-distance walk coming up in five to six weeks. Short training walks... Over the past week, I’ve also managed a few shorter evening walks of 6 and 8 miles here and there.... But the real EYE-OPENER came when I got a new tracker watch last week and saw just how little I actually move while working from home. I've WFH for past 5 years (coiniding with huge weight gain).... it's super scary to see pretty much zero movement during daytime and evening work sessions when I'm just sat at my desk for hours.... No surprise, but seeing it visualised really brought it home. That was just one day multiplied by hundreds over the years! So why the spikes that day?... I’ve started walking the school drop-off and pick-up routes more often, and I’ve discovered some decent field paths between Innsworth and Longford - about 20–25 minutes each way (it all adds up). It’s a great excuse to stretch the legs while the sun’s still out - jinxed it as it's now pouring with rain - and it’s been good for the kids to walk too... I think they’ve really enjoyed it. Next investment? Decent footwear. A must-have for the distance ahead. I'll be sore tomorrow, no doubt, so it’s stretches later tonight and an upper body gym session lined up early this week to keep things balanced. Hope everyone’s had a good weekend - how’s your training going? Any news or other wins to report? Cheers, Simon

I really want to increase my walking following my knee op. I've managed about 2 miles in one go. How did you go about increasing it without finding yourself stuck somewhere and tired?

@Simon Mason thank you. That's really helpful. I live near some fields so I took a walk last night and looped back home. I really like the idea of pre-planned walks as well. I do like just walking in a direction and wandering until I work my way back but a preplanned walk is really helpful to set timings or if you are stretched for time but want to squeeze in a short walk. I have a little dog as well which helps make me walk
Skinny sausages
An all time family favourite in our house is bangers and mash but sausages have quite high calories and fat. Came across these and tried them this evening. 75g calories per sausages, 1.4g fat and 10.9 protein. And they are actually really, really nice. I got them from Ocado but Tesco do them too. I just get the usual sausages for the kids and these for me so save on costs.
