Fantastic. When that blade was backwards, I would not have been able to contain myself. As a grown adult, I have been in a position of not eating unless … Brooks took it all in stride. Good for him.
Prior Advice
I had the opportunity to attend a four-day course in Maine with a school and instructor I had been following. Four or five months before the trip, the director of education suggested that “bring no new equipment to the course.” I slept in the back yard, I cooked in the backyard, I hiked all over the county. All well used. That was not the case with several students as cookware was being taken out of shrink wrap around the cooking fire. Ouch - they ate very late and there was a little bit of frustration. I just thought I would share this tid bit of sage advice generously granted to me. No new equipment. The pictures are from the spring of 2022 prior to the GB2 WSC, practice in the backyard.

@Rodney Thompson Outdoor Skills time will tell. They only live two miles away but our son and DIL keep the little guy pretty busy. Fingers crossed.
Module C1-4 Overnight
Destination: I will be setting up my campsite in my back yard. Purpose: Individual practice and training on our grandson (11yo). Itinerary: 3:00 pm Saturday to 9:00 am Sunday Permits: Local fire permit. I have invited our grandson and our son over tomorrow afternoon when I set up my hammock campsite in the backyard. My grandson will be invited to prepare and kindle a fire in the fire pit. We are expecting serious rain until about 3:00:pm Saturday, so I have gathered some fire resources in advance of their visiting. After I get the campsite set, I will be boiling water to reconstitute my mountain house dinner. I have a couple on hand in case my son wants to try it. Feeding my grandson is a challenge so we will have to work on some solutions. Maybe Mac n cheese. As of right now, they are not spending the night. I will camp in the backyard yard. I will heat water in the morning for a wilderness coffee before returning to my care taking responsibilities. The camp site will be disassembled before 9:00 am. The long term plan is to attend an overnight survival school in early October and to have son and grandson ready for the experience.

The fire danger status just dropped and it is Low for the whole weekend. Real fire and not a stove.
Blackwater Videos
Good evening. Winding down tonight and catching a couple of @Rodney Thompson Outdoor Skills Blackwater videos. I was kind of looking at the history over the course of the past year and do I see a theme or a pattern. Has anyone gone back and started at video #1 and progressed in order? I learned about this Skool and the channel the same night a while back. I got a kick out of all the action about the gaters, but I think there is something so much deeper.
