Exciting Learning OpportunityšŸ§ šŸ”„
Team, I’m excited to share a learning opportunity that we will use to culminate the Level One Certification from now on, in place of an exam. It’s a case study of a young runner that we’ll be exploring and collaborating on via our public facing platform over the next two weeks. Here’s the scenario… A 14 year old runner is experiencing right heel pain, left hip pain, and exercise induced anxiety. We have the opportunity to utilize all of the tools at Physiology First, from metabolic assessment to Vo2 max testing, as well as our fully outfitted campus. The young woman’s personal goal is improved running performance. We have the opportunity to help her meet that goal, while broadening the frame for her understanding of her physiology.šŸ«šŸ§ šŸ’ŖšŸ”„ If you’re interested in being part of this fun, team building project it will serve as the final assessment for the Level One Certification Program. Hope you’ll join in and put your knowledge to the test in a fun, supportive environment, while strengthening the skillset that you’ll be bringing to your community! We kick-off tomorrow on our public facing platform. Let’s do this! David

So ready for this 🤩
New Level One Certification E-Book Companion šŸ“–
Team, The incredible efforts of @Leven Beeuwsaert to compile notes and the suggestion from @Filipe Cymbron to create a pdf of the course material has sent me down an inspiring rabbit hole into the world of Designerr, an ebook creation tool that we can leverage in several important ways. 1.) To create interactive pdf/live ebook presentations for our proposals to schools, organizations, and companies, complete with embedded videos and interactive materials. This will be a powerful way to present your offerings to the community! I’ll make a presentation ebook for each sector in the weeks to come. 2.) To build this preliminary version of a Certification Ebook companion into the most comprehensive, interactive course companion and field guide possible, together! This is my first attempt, and I plan to add more photos, videos, audio links, and anything that you suggest in the weeks to come. Hopefully this skeleton draft proves handy in compiling the information from the Level One Certification Program for the time being as we evolve it into a powerful tool to put the Physiology First Approach into practice! Looking forward to your thoughts on this early version and how it can be expanded and improved to best serve the team! ~ David https://designrr.s3.amazonaws.com/physiologyfirst1_at_gmail.com_376416/physiology-first-level-one-certification-program_6778533b.pdf

Brilliant! HUGE thanks @Leven Beeuwsaert @Filipe Cymbron @David Bidler
Module 8 is now available!
Team, Module 8: Putting It All Together is now available in our Certification Level One classroom. On last week's Deep Dive we decided that a second live webinar on the technical modules, focused on genetic testing and hormonal testing would be valuable for the team. That webinar will be scheduled for this Thursday, December 12th, at 3pm EST. This would make Thursday, December 19th, the final webinar of the Fall 2024 Certification Program. On that Deep Dive I'm going to give an in-depth presentation on how you can offer an interactive, digital Physiology First University platform to schools and businesses in your community. This newest addition to the certification program is an exciting opportunity to collaborate professionally with leaders in education and beyond, while honing your skills as a communicator of the Physiology First Approach. I purposely kept the Putting It All Together sparse, simple, and straightforward in order to create a clear path towards implementation. We are launching a new version of our Physiology First Online platform -a public platform for students and community leaders- that will be led by Physiology First Team Leader @Becca Carlson next week! As part of the certification program each of you will have 2 months of complimentary access to that offering, which will share weekly training concepts, real time resilience skills, and "members only resources" that serve as a companion to the articles/podcasts that I am putting together on a weekly basis on our new Substack. This will leave you prepared with even more tools to take into your community. I am also finalizing the pdf/e-book companion to the program that you will each receive following the December 19th webinar, along with an assessment to complete to officially earn your Physiology First Level One Certification. Thank you all so much for being part of this movement. Our work together is just beginning as we take a simple, but powerful program into our communities through the exercises in Module 8 and build a new foundation for education that teaches the next generation about their physiology, first!

This is awesome, David.
Module 6 Exercise/Reflection
Hey team, There's not yet a Module 6 discussion thread, so I'm just posting this here. This testing technology is just SO cool, and I had no idea you could get such a broad screening from this type of thing alone. I've mentioned that I don't have much experience testing with tech, and now I can't wait to get my hands on it! As for for exercise, thanks David for not making the data set too overwhelming šŸ˜… With breathing for cognition, I'm understanding that to be more reflective of breathing function at rest. So I'd probably approach it with functional breathing stuff (resting mechanics --> arousal management --> resting air hunger tolerance). Recovery is the other area, and is probably linked to HRV (which is also linked to functional breathing...so not surprising in a sense that these two areas are both the ones with room for growth). For this person, I might use the SABRES method that I'd use for someone with burnout (Sleep, Arousal management, Breathing, Rest-Effort Ratio, Self-Esteem). I probably wouldn't take them through every stage of that, as they're probably not experiencing true burnout -- but definitely would look at their current habits around the first three to see where the opportunities are to give their nervous system a chance to recover. Looking forward to deep diving about this one and hearing everyone else's interpretations of this data. Have a great weekend!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! No Deep Dive this week
Team, I had the pleasure of connecting with many of our students who are home for the holidays this week. The #1 thing I heard from them? They miss the campus, the mentorship, the community, and the sense of being part of a movement to shape the future of health and human potentialšŸŒŽšŸ§ šŸ”„ I always assure them that they are at the CENTER of this movement, and that Physiology First wouldn’t be possible without their passion, dedication, and willingness to continue to learn and lead from experience. We have a BIG announcement to share with everyone next weekend that will help grow the movement in 2025 and beyond. We’re going to take the week of from Deep Dives based on the feedback from the group regarding holiday schedules. We’ll tackle the two tech focused modules next Thursday on the Deep Dive! Wishing everyone an inspired holiday and looking forward to seeing you next week!! šŸ“ø Daisy was one of the very first students at our Freeport, Maine campus. It was great to catch up with her and @Becca Carlson and create the foundation for our new campaign together!
