What’s Harder In Your Opinion ?
Recently, @Chris Legaspi, @Gimmel Goffe and I had a really interesting conversation and Drawing vs Painting. I’m in the belief that personally, drawing and linework is much more difficult than painting. Where describing form In line is extremely difficult for me because my brain starts drawing my ideas of what I’m looking at, instead of what’s actually going on. As opposed to painting, I’m forced to see edge and value and describe it as such. So what do you guys think? Is line drawing harder or easier than painting in your experience?

@Darren Lockhart I love that quote. It really sits with me because everything is easy until you learn it. Then you realize the nuances of it and have to really do it with grace. I guess my question was worded in a way that people have misunderstood what I’m asking. I agree that they are both difficult and have their own set of challenges. My question could’ve been worded as ‘ which practice poses the most difficulty for each individual person?’ And for me, drawing poses more difficulty than painting purely because it’s difficult to relay form in line than it is in value.

@Corey Jones Thanks for the response man. You put into words what I’ve been trying to say since the question was asked. Yes, drawing and painting are one and the same. You need one to make the other work and vice versa. I understand that completely, what my question was asking was, in knowing that both need eachother, they are still separate in practices. Which practice possess the most difficulty. And for me, it’s drawing for sure
Grafit Studio Model Portrait !
I recently drew a close friend of mine whose a model and worked for grafit studio recently and it was such an experience ! @Barbara Tsemkalo shes actually in here now. This was one of those pieces that just flowed for me because the composition was already there imo. Can’t thank her more for such a beautiful reference !

@Marv Z I appreciate that Marv. Honestly if I don’t spend an extra amount of time getting the form to read from line, the rending is soo much harder to do

https://www.instagram.com/legaspifineart Meta has censored my old IG into oblivion. I even paid for Meta verified and they STILL insisted I take down my (non-nude) drawings they deemed "sexually explicit". Help me grow this account so I reach the masses with our message. Thank you for the support 🙏✍️

New Work: Following Purpose Opens Doors
I’m excited to share some early sketches for a new documentary project on the history of Black farming in America. This project deeply aligns with my values of representation and Black history, and I feel a strong sense of purpose bringing these stories to life. Right now I’m sketching figures like Booker T. Washington, George Washington Carver, and Thomas Monroe Campbell to start shaping the visual language. What I’ve learned is that when you stay true to your purpose, keep working, and share your journey, the right opportunities will find you. What projects have you worked on that made you feel this same kind of alignment?

@Corey Jones thus really helps seperate the values, how’d you go about doing that ? 👀
Sanguine
So I thought I would say some things about sanguine and how I made this. I used a conte pencil. I tried others but they usually break very easily. And a paper stump. Canson mi teintes. For bigger work you can use a derwent chunky in sanguine. Sanguine is one of my favorite ways to draw. It smudges easily and can get pretty intense. And as I am writing this facebook banned me again for absolutely nothing. Great.
