♣️ Who's thinking about changing clubs for next year??
I'm curious please vote below. Depending on the votes, Yul and I might be running a special training for swimmers and parents who want to switch to another club. We have been part of many successful transitions and we know what to do (and what to avoid!!) to find a great team & coach. Vote HERE 👇

Thinking about it but I'm also happy where I am 💁

@David Karasek Well I'm happy with my friends and coach and even the training. But the political side to it is very hectic (with some of the parents, a few swimmers and I feel even the other coach, even though I've moved out of her class) So I'm going to see how things go during the year and if some things get sorted out. And also mainly because of how I get my competition within the club. I'm almost always the only girl with a lot stuff, which I don't really mind because training with the boys does kinda force me to 'toughen up' but there are other clubs where I can have a more equal competition and all.
First meet of the season
Well nothing really went as planned but I'm happy Im swam and got certain times on board. 50 back: 34.44 took off half a sec, this race felt powerful and underwaters went better than expected. My arms and legs were flying and it felt like the strongest backstroke I've had in a while. 200IM: 2.59, stayed on my time, not my best time But I wanted to swim this as early as possible because for us, here in SA, you need a 200IM time or else you can't swim regionals/ levels. My 50 fly felt amazing but my chest got really wheezy the last 5m because I'm still a bit sick, because of the water pressure on my back I had a few coughing fits during the back and was fully out of oxygen for the breast, and freestyle I pushed through but couldn't sprint it. I'm just happy the time is down for the season and don't need to worry about it in the long run. 50 free: 30.01 added 2 seconds. My chest was still wheezing, I slipped on the block and had a deep dive, I choked right before the turn and burst into coughs right as I came out. I also lost concentration before the race because someone said good luck, and I turned my head to say thanks. I can take the lesson that I don't need to say thank you or be friendly before a race because it's not gonna kill someone if you don't answer😅, and that it's important to stay in your zone. I'm not even disappointed with the times because I knew it was all my chest could handle that day. I spoke to my coach about it and we chatted about how the races felt in general. He said he didn't care about the times as long as I tried as hard as I could and my IM time is down. I'm just a little disappointed about how the circumstances were and that I know for myself I could have swum so much better. I'm taking a learning from this; it doesn't matter the times, I enjoyed the races and the feeling of racing again after season end break.

For the whole school thing: i go to training to AVOID studying, I absolutely hate studying and swimming is my favorite excuse not to sit still at a desk and learn. It also helps me concentrate after the workout so studing becomes easier

- When friends ask if I want to go out I will politely decline - When I pick up my phone I will do breathing exercises and think if I really need it, or put my phone down a draw instead - When I see sweets at my house or at school I will take a few sips of water a turn away - Visualize before I go to sleep
The academy questions I didn't get to in training — answered
Every swimmer has a great day one at a meet, then a day two that falls apart, and most have no plan for what to do in between… In this one I answer the academy questions I ran out of time for, from race-day resets to lung capacity to beating pre-race nerves. Here's what's inside: 👉 How to reset mid-meet after a bad race @Catia Maidanschi (for Cezar pls) 👉 The "go where it hurts" rule for building real lung capacity @Kira Shapoval 👉 My honest take on creatine vs maltodextrin for swimmers @Amelie Erasmus 👉 The next move when the Michael Phelps breathing stops working @Sofia Ilina Watch the video below. If I forgot a question, pls put it in the comments below and have a ROCKING WEEK!!!!💥 PS: If you're NOT in the Academy and haven't upgraded to Premium yet, check out all the tools that you get for only $9/month

OK thank you @David Karasek I'll see if I can report back to you with the underwaters on Saturday, and I'm only training by myself on a Tuesday and maybe Friday as there is no official club training then 🙃 😅

@David Karasek So I tried the focusing only on the counting of the underwatwrs today at training and it did kinda work. The slight problem was that I have a bit of a cough and today was my first day back after like a week off. Energy wise I was fine but my cough decided now is the time to be boss and I ended up doing half the session because my chest got a bit wheezy every time I breathed which made me wanna cough more:(🙄🤦 I'll obviously still continue trying the counting thing 🤑

That you can put yourself in someone else's shoes to not quit and that you can push through hard sets

So my question was like, why is it harder to train by yourself and how to keep going even when your tired but I kinda feel like the answer is gonna be screw the feelings of pain and do it anyway:) And then I was curious about creatine, so I have been doing a bit of research on the difference between creatine and maltodextrin but like can you use creatine as well or...?? Then I feel like I'm panicking when I'm sprinting and doing my underwaters while I feel so much more calmer when it's a bit of a slower set, is there a way I can not feel so stressed when I need to do super fast underwaters?
