🌬️ Diaphragm Basics
Today, we begin with the foundation of your breath: the diaphragm. The diaphragm is your main breathing muscle. It sits under your lungs, like a dome, separating the chest from the abdomen. When you inhale, the diaphragm moves downward. This creates space for the lungs to expand. When you exhale, the diaphragm relaxes upward. The ribs soften. The body releases air. Simple, but powerful. Because the diaphragm is not only about breathing. It also connects to: 👉 the ribs 👉 the spine 👉 the belly 👉 the pelvic floor 👉 posture 👉 pressure regulation 👉 nervous system state When the diaphragm moves well, the breath can become fuller, calmer, and more efficient. When it is restricted, the body often compensates with: tight neck lifted shoulders shallow chest breathing jaw tension belly gripping low back tension So today, don’t try to breathe perfectly. Just notice. Try this: Place one hand on your lower ribs, and one hand on your belly. Take a natural inhale. 👉 Ask: Where does my breath go first? Do my ribs move? Does my belly soften? Do my shoulders lift? Does my jaw tighten? Then exhale slowly. Let the body soften 5%. 👉 Remember: The diaphragm does not need FORCE -It needs space. The breath does not need to be BIGGER -It needs to become more available. 👇 Share below: where do you feel your breath most today: chest, belly, ribs, or back?

I feel more in my ribs, mainly because I was focusing on my hand, normally I notice it in my chest. Recently I have been working to do a more 360 degree/umbrella style breathing to support my pelvic floor. I'm staring small and only doing a few minutes each morning and if I intentionally check in after a body scan. I need to overhaul my breathing and I've been breathing incorrectly for so long. Little steps. I'm so happy you shared this and look forward to learning more especially about releasing the chest tightness.
✨How Tight Ribs Limit Your Breath
Most people think breathing is only about the lungs. But the truth is: Breathing is a mechanical movement of the ribs + diaphragm working together. When the ribs don’t move…the diaphragm cannot move fully. And when the diaphragm cannot move fully…your breath becomes smaller, faster, and more effortful. 🌿 What Tight Ribs Feel Like You may notice: - shallow breathing - tight chest - neck doing most of the breathing - sighing often but never feeling satisfied - fatigue - anxiety or “wired” feeling - difficulty taking a deep breath Because when ribs are stuck…the body compensates. Shoulders lift. Neck works harder. Jaw tightens. Breath shortens. SHARE YOUR FINDINGS AND OBSERVATIONS 👇

Wow! I definitely think I have a tight chest now that you mentioned this. I feel things in my chest as tightness, my shoulders are always up, I take shallow breaths, sometimes it feels like I need to take a deep breath to get air and my jaw is always tight.
What Do You Know About Your Neck?
Today, we bring awareness to an area many people only notice when it hurts: the neck. Your neck is not just a place that gets stiff. It is a bridge between: 👉 head and body 👉 thoughts and feelings 👉 jaw and shoulders 👉 breath and posture 👉 nervous system and movement So today, pause for a moment and ask yourself: ✨ Is my neck tight right now? ✨ Do I push my head forward during the day? ✨ Do I clench my jaw and feel it in my neck? ✨ Do I lose neck mobility when stressed? ✨ Do I hold my breath when concentrating? ✨ Does my neck feel tired, compressed, or heavy? ✨ Do I wake up with tension there? 🤩 SHARE YOUR OBSERVATIONS 👇

My neck is tight l, I definitely push it forward, my jaw is tight, neck feels compressed and yes I hold my breath
Why am I not taking action?
“I already know what to do.” And the answer is not lack of knowledge. It’s the nervous system. When you’ve experienced stress or trauma,your body is not focused on growth. It’s focused on survival. 👉 So instead of moving forward, the body can go into: freeze avoidance overthinking numbing And from the outside, it looks like: procrastination lack of motivationinconsistency But internally… the system is trying to stay safe. 👉 And here is the paradox: You need to take action to change your life… but taking action can feel unsafe. So what do we do? We don’t force big change. We start small. One step. One breath. One moment of showing up. Because action is not something you wait for. Action is something you create. And every small step teaches your body: it’s safe to move it’s safe to try it’s safe to change You don’t need to feel ready. You need to be willing. SHARE 👇 what are you trying today?

@Zina Zinchenko that's wonderful 😊
NOTICE THE BELLY
Today is about something very simple…and very revealing. Soften your belly. Not by forcing it. Not by pushing it out. Just by allowing it to not hold. Many of us are unconsciously tightening the belly all day. While walking. While working. While thinking. While being around others. It becomes a habit. A subtle form of protection. But the belly is directly connected to your breath. When the belly is tight:the diaphragm cannot move fullythe breath becomes shallowthe nervous system stays slightly activated So today, your practice is not to fix anything. It’s to notice. Throughout the day, ask yourself: Is my belly tight right now?Am I holding without realizing?What happens if I soften… just 10%? Then let the breath drop. No force. No performance. Just space. ✨ This is where change begins- in awareness. If you notice something interesting, surprising, or challenging…share it here or message me so I don’t miss it 🤍
