1 year. No alcohol. In Spain. 🥂 (with sparkling water, obviously)
Today marks 365 days since my last drink, and I wanted to share it here because this community gets it in a way most people around me don't. Living in Spain and not drinking is... a whole thing. Here, the bar isn't the destination, it's the starting point😅. You meet at the bar to decide where to go eat. The social fabric is soaked in wine and cerveza, and the pressure when everyone around you has a glass in hand can be genuinely relentless. What made the difference for me was accepting something about myself: I function better on nothing than on less. Moderation isn't a tool in my kit. Once I stopped trying to make it one, everything got easier. A year later, my friends keep asking how I do it. Honestly? I just decided that my body feeling good was worth more than fitting in. And from an inflammation standpoint : alcohol is one of the most underrated drivers of chronic inflammation. Cutting it out was one of the quietest, most impactful things I've done for my health. If you're curious about the social side of navigating it, drop a comment : happy to share what actually worked. 👇
