A lesson to y’all about brilliant moves
Do you like brilliant moves? Well, Ik brilliant moves are very great, but… If you think you will get a brilliant move, you have to calculate what your opponent to do next. what people’s mistakes is that they thought “oh yessss, I will deflect the queen with the knight from the g2 pawn and then checkmate, yesssssss”! But that wasn’t it, an advanced opponent will get suspicious of ur sacrifice and then instead they don’t take ur knight (an example above) and instead took ur undefended rook with ur rook, then what’s next? People usually get confused when their opponent did not do the move they’ve expected to come. That’s why the lesson is “NO HOPE CHESS”! Getting a brilliant is good but you needed to think about what if your opponent don’t accept your sacrifice and plays a move that you don’t expect On the poll, let’s see what you learnt… What do you do when you think that you can get a brilliant move in the sequence?

31st October 2024: C Team Debut
One Halloween night, I made my debut in the league side of chess. Each game is 75 minutes with 10 seconds increment for every move made. Of course, I was nervous seeing as though this was my first time. It wasn't a debut to remember, sadly, as I lost to S. Norman. Here's the moves (I PLAYED WHITE IN THIS GAME): 1. e4, c6 2. d4, d5 3. e5, Bf5 4. Bd3, Bxd3 5. Qxd3, e6 6. Nf3, Qc7 7. O-O, Nd7 8. c3, O-O-O 9. Nbd2, h5 10. h4, Be7 11. c4, g5 12. Nxg5, Bxg5 13. hxg5, Ne7 14. Nf3, h4 15. cxd5, Nxd5 16. g6, fxg6 17. Qxg6, Rdg8 18. Qxe6, Rg7 19. Qh3, Kb8 20. Ng5, Nf8 21. f4, Qb6 22. Be3, Nxe3 23. Qxe3, h3 24. Nxh3, Qxb2 25. Ng5, Rg6 26. Qf2, Qa3 27. Qf3, Qb4 28. d5, Rgh6 29. dxc6, Qd4+ After the check, I saw the forced checkmate and reluctantly resigned the position. Wasn't the best debut I was looking for, but there's better positions to come!
