Allen sent me a couple of very good CapCut questions that I think a lot of people run into, so I’m sharing the answers here. Allen’s question #1: Why aren’t all my CapCut projects universally available on my phone, laptop, and desktop? I remember there was a fix for this. Answer: The main issue is the difference between a local project and a CapCut Cloud/Space project. If a project only exists locally on your desktop or laptop, it usually won’t automatically appear on your other devices. If you want to access a project from your phone, laptop, and desktop: - Make sure you are signed into the same CapCut account on every device. - Ideally, use the same login method on all devices. - Make sure the project is saved/uploaded to CapCut Cloud or Space, not just stored locally. - Let the project finish syncing before opening it on another device. One important note: desktop and mobile CapCut do not always have perfect feature parity, so very complex desktop projects may not behave exactly the same on mobile. Allen’s question #2: When I create a new project and import media, should I choose: “Copy media to project” or “Stay in original location”? Answer: For important projects, I generally recommend: COPY MEDIA TO PROJECT Here’s the difference: Stay in original location means CapCut leaves your video, photo, and audio files wherever they currently live on your computer. For example: Desktop Downloads folder External hard drive USB drive CapCut simply remembers where those files are. The problem is that if you later move, rename, delete, or disconnect those files, CapCut may no longer be able to find them. That is when you can get the dreaded: Media Missing message. Copy media to project means CapCut makes a copy of the imported media and stores it with the project. That makes the project much more self-contained and much safer if you: - reorganize your files - edit on more than one computer - move the project - archive the project - disconnect an external drive
