My TEDx Talk Is Live!
I’m excited to share that my TEDx talk is officially live on YouTube. It starts from a simple but slightly uncomfortable question about friendship, loyalty, and growth, and unpacks why some ideas are meant to challenge what we’ve been taught to value. It’s the kind of title that should make you pause, maybe raise an eyebrow, and feel compelled to click, the same way a good book title pulls you in before you’ve read a single page. 👉 Watch here: https://youtu.be/FAoGs4Bw7fg?si=nrKxY1zUAEwnUSD6 As you watch, please leave a comment directly on YouTube responding to one or two of these prompts: - What made the title work or not work for you before you even pressed play? - What moment in the talk clarified the real idea behind the provocative framing? - How does this change the way you think about loyalty, growth, or who we keep close? For those of you thinking about applying to speak at a TEDx event, pay attention not just to what is said, but how the idea is framed to invite curiosity and conversation. Looking forward to reading your thoughts.

Authors?
Yesterday at the Big Idea Mixer, Dr. @Emily Jamea gifted me a copy of her book Anatomy of Desire: Five Secrets to Create Connection and Cultivate Passion. It got me thinking… how many of our TEDxThirdWard volunteers, semifinalists, alumni, and supporters are authors too? If you’ve written a book, I’d love for you to drop your link below so we can celebrate your work and share it with the community. Let’s keep lifting each other up and showing just how many big ideas are coming out of this circle.

When you run into another author/semifinalist at the National Black Author Conference and you’re both patiently waiting to hear the news. 🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾@Durrell Douglas @Laryssa Creswell
Faith in the Wait.
Waiting is not a pause in purpose but a place of preparation. It teaches trust, patience, and quiet strength. In the stillness, faith grows roots deep enough to hold us through uncertainty. When we wait together, we share hope, and that hope draws hearts closer. The wait becomes a bridge, reminding us that growth often happens unseen. Every silent moment shapes us for what is to come. Faith in the wait is believing that what is meant for us is already moving toward us, even when we cannot yet see it.

@Brittney Bingham reminds me of the quote “Service is the rent we pay for the privilege of living on this earth”
How many times have you applied for a TEDx stage?
Some people make it on their first try. Others apply five, six, ten--- dozens of times before they finally land the red dot. For those who’ve made it further, refined your idea, or feel closer than ever — what’s one piece of advice you’d give your former self? And for the first-timers, what’s something that’s surprised you most about the process so far? It’s often a numbers game — every “not yet” is shaping your next “yes.”

@Rob Salafia I feel the same way. Your talk only gets better with time until the timing is right.
