A lot of new faces, welcome ! Hey guys 👋🏻 As the winter is coming closer to the end ( hopefully 🤞🏼) , I am gonna plan getting involved more with the group and start uploading more stuff and will try to keep you all up to date on what's going on, the direction we will take and updates on my personal journey ... As you may or may not know, I am just a starting out entrepreneur , who is trying to get away from working for someone else and do mostly work for myself. It's easier said than done though. I'm sure a lot of us can relate juggling multiple aspects of life and trying to learn new things, all while raising kids ,spending time with loved ones and trying to balance it. Just a little recap from last year that gave me a substantial boost in self confidence and confidence in working in this trade in general. Last year, around May, I gave my notice to my boss, who I was employed with for over 15 years. At the time I had a company already registered, but no work coming in and a local contractor reached out to me and said that he wants to retire. I took it as a sign and said ok, let's work together for a bit and see what we can come up with. Long story longer...I figured that I didn't want to take on responsibility for the work that wasn't done by me and by taking over a company I would automatically be obligated to take care of the customers that had any sort of problems with their garage floors. We had a pretty good influx of work coming in. About 2 garage floors per week was a normal steady pace, being a one crew team we handled it as best as we could while trying to fix older equipment and making it work with whatever other means we had. That's when I got a real good perspective on things, old vs new equipment, 15$ / hour guys vs 25$ an hour labor and not to mention all the call backs from the previous jobs, but that's a different story. I made a lot of mental notes , put the blinders on and kept breathing all that cement dust and after a while I realized that a small service based business like that is only worth as much as a person who is running it , plus maybe the equipment .

See now this is a post I’ve been looking for. I’m out of Florida and what machine to use was one of my biggest questions

@Alvis Ciritis primarily prep like grinding and such with the proper vacuum and all of that attached as I know there were some stuff mentioned about needing a vacuum based grinder to midigate the amount of dust kick up or something like that? I wrote it all down. But that is a good idea ill probably create a post asking for suggestions. Thank you!
Moving along
After going through introduction a few times I think I’m definitely ready to move to stage 2! Will most likely stay in that section for a bit learning but looking forward to it!
Creating a website
Have any of you tried creating a webpage from scratch? I never used to know how to code even a little bit, but I had the basic knowledge that all we see on the screen online is just a bunch of lines of code. How awesome is that we have ai now and with that we don't need to know how, we just need to know what we want and being able to express the idea to ai, it guides you through every step of the way and I didn't even use a paid version. Initially when I started, I rushed to get a website and just made it with one of the companies that offer ai building platforms, but it is of course subscription based, so because I wasn't really using most of their features, I didn't see the point of paying 20$ each month just to have a web page. Quite frankly I am not convinced that nowadays we even need a web page for a business, social media works pretty well, but anyway... Just spend half of the day creating a simple landing page with the contact form, so I can get messages redirected straight to my work e-mail address. I owned domain for a while and I found a provider who hosts for free, so I don't need to pay dreamhost or any other company. That was a little complicated with all the dns routing and a bunch of other technical detail that chat GPT was walking me through, but I am happy to announce that it is very doable, just need a lot of patience...without patience it's definitely way easier to just make it on wix or squarespace . Oh , that was another thing. When I was purchasing domain originally, it was on google domains and since then squarespace took over all their stuff and I totally forgot all the credentials for accessing that domain, so I had to go through my bank statements to find a proof of purchase, that it was my domain 😬 But long story short, chat GPT can spit out a text file in 5 seconds, that is saved as .html and hosted in couple clicks. I feel like a geek now 😁 I just made a simple model that I will be working on, but it's functional and that's all it matters for today !

Honestly I’ve always used Shopify to build out my stores but have heard a lot of buzz about using chat ai to create a text code to implement on a blank website and have looked at a few stores or online websites made that way and to be honest it does seem to have a bit more of a personal feel to the web page. Might have to try that out this go around

Hey everyone👋 name is Thomas quite new to this field but has been something I’ve wanted to get into for the last 4-5 years just never had the courage to go after it as again new and zero experience lol. I currently own a Marine detailing and maintenance company in Stuart,Fl that after a while is starting to get more stable. However am wanting to expand my LLC into a separate DBA for remodeling and epoxy finishing! I am a single father of 2 below is a photo of myself and my 7 year old. Everything I do is in hopes of building something great so I can leave something behind for them. From what I’ve gathered thus far this groups is exactly what I need and have been searching for so wanted to say thank you to Alvis and everyone else in the group for the information and being able to learn along side yall!
