We spent way too much last week. We did an overnight with the kids and ate at restaurants 3X. This week I have 2 goals: 1. Create meals based on what we have in the fridge, freezer, and pantry. 2. Avoid the temptation to do more back to school shopping. My kids already have what they need 😀

@Sybil Hall I did that last week and cut a $60/month business subscription. Found a cell phone plan that was $17 month less, and cancelled Apple care on my phone, which is also around $17/month. Good luck with your review!!’

This weeks goals 1. Message my ex with a list of kids expenses we split, he owes me almost $800. 2. Submit a readjustment for the water bill on my rental property. The tenant didn’t advise me of a leak and the water bill was double over the past 3 months. The utility company is willing to reduce the bill with proof of repair.
Quick Question
Do you have something that you don’t spend enough money on? 🤣

For me it's yoga and fitness classes. I love doing them but feel guilty spending money on them. Working on this because I spend plenty on less useful things for myself 😊 we also should get a new mattress and upgrade to a king sized bed. When we stay at a hotel, I get the most glorious sleep because I don't feel my partner moving. At home...not so much.

@Sybil Hall Realistically....the yoga classes will come first. I'm planning to start them in September and create a regular weekly routine. The bed and mattress replacement involves more work. We want to paint the bedroom and that's easier to do with the smaller bed in there. Plus we have so many things to tackle around the house, I'm going to make getting a new bed the reward that comes after all the other jobs are done.
Life's Little or Big Pleasures
My husband mentioned something in passing the other day and it kind of blew my mind. He said everybody has things that they are willing to pay big bucks for. (Maybe he didn't actually say big bucks, but that was kind of the implication.) I had never thought of spending in quite those terms. Some people love shoes and using a chunk of their disposable income for designer shoes doesn't phase them at all. Or maybe it's experiences, like travel or theater. It made me wonder: what is your splurge category? No judgment, whatever it is. For me it's BOOKS (Henry Ward Beecher wrote: "Where is human nature so weak as in a bookstore?" and he meant me!!) and SOCIAL MEALS. I will wear shoes until they are falling apart without even noticing and I don't collect anything, but if you want to go out to dinner, I am your girl!!

@Meg Cloete I love weekend getaways too. In some ways I find them more relaxing. When we travel for a week or more there is more logistics to worry about.

When I worked in corporate, I used to love splurging on clothing and designer purses. That was a fleeting phase, now I like to spend more on travel. Specifically nice hotels, an upgrade to premium economy or business class if we can find a really good deal, and restaurants (I love food).
