Contraindications
Thinking of all the various contraindications applicable to EO's, which is the first one that pops into your mind in order of importance and why? There's no right or wrong answer, mine is epilepsy/seizures, what's yours and why? Epilepsy for me is because just a whiff of the wrong oil can trigger an attack/episode. Sometimes seizures aren't full body reactions that we normally associate with the word epilepsy. Did you know that some of the following reactions/symptoms are also signs of a seizure? They are known as aura seizures. These can be stand alone symptoms or precursors to a full blown seizure. 1. Changes in their vision, like seeing sparkling lights, dark circles or colorful splotches 2. Hearing things that no one else does, like a ringing, buzzing or whistling 3. Noticing an odd smell, such as burning rubber 4. Feeling numbness, tingling, heat or pain in a specific body part 5. Having an unusual — and typically unpleasant — taste in your mouth, like something bitter, metallic or sour. 6. Sudden and short-lived changes in demeanor, like becoming momentarily confused, subdued, irritated, anxious, excited or fearful 7. Walking away or disengaging in the middle of a conversation 8. Saying something completely unrelated to the conversation at hand 9. Disruptive behaviors, like uncontrollably yelling out in a classroom or in a meeting 10. A sudden cramping or tensing of a muscle group, stiffening of your head and neck muscles, involuntarily posturing your fingers or hand, or exaggerated blinking 11. Moving your jaw as if you’re chewing or swallowing when you’re not eating or drinking 12. Pacing or moving about with a sudden burst of energy 13. Fidgeting with your hands, such as adjusting your clothes. Then there's non-epileptic seizures, FND, Functional Neurological Disorder. I have 3 clients with FND. Using the correct EO's for them specifically, combined with treating their Cranial nerves with Reflexology works a treat to reduce FND attacks. Comment below which is your priority contraindication to EO's and why.

Hmmm... I guess interactions with medications would be the first one popping into my mind, but I am always trying to look at everything possible That's why I insist on having clients fill out an intake form before I even think about making any suggestions. I had a few people questioning my motivation for that and I had to decline making a blend for them. I may not be a medical professional, but doing no harm is more important to me than making a quick buck.

@Jane Lawson yes, they probably thought because I'm not a medical professional I don't need that information or maybe they were afraid I might miss use it. Anyhow, I worked many years in my mom's dentist office in Germany and front desk in a doctor's office here in the use. I am well aware on how to handle that information. 😆
Congratulations!!
Whoop! Whoop! This is @Sharon Banfield who is currently studying for her Clinical Aromatherapy Diploma. Here in the UK, it is a 2 year course and includes various physical therapies. This weekend Sharon added KaHuna Bodywork to her existing therapies which include Experiential Healing Coach, Advanced/Clinical Reflexologist, Reiki Practitioner, Sport, Hot Stone, NLM, MLD and IHM massage. We had a lovely weekend, aided and abetted by @Katie and @Davina Salter who generously gave their time to be bodies for Sharon’s training. It’s always the same, bodies say “that’s been the best massage I’ve ever had.” “I never want any other massage again. “ As to students “this is the best massage to give, it’s physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.” Well done Sharon, you absolutely nailed it! I knew you would 🥰. As you learnt this weekend, it’s not just transformational for clients, it grants “freedom”, as you said, for the therapist to really bring change on every level to the client.
Congratulations!!

Congratulations @Sharon Banfield ! And @Jane Lawson I meant to tell you this before. Besides the great teaching, what I appreciate most about you is the personal relationships you are building with your students. I'm not a massage therapist, but I wish I was and lived closer so I could take some of your in-person classes. 😘

This is a fun session and is open to ANYONE whether you are a therapist or a novice....... learning is learning at the end of the day! Just comment or PM me for the zoom link.
