@Graham Lorenze it was a fake profile (fooled me) haven’t ran into any scammers in my 5 years of painting but this one almost got me. I showed up at the property, work trucks were there and there was definitely remodeling going on. The “lady” told me she wanted her exterior painted but it was all brand new vinyl siding when I went to go look at the job, I even tried to find someone but no one was there. Next day my curiosity peaked me because something wasn’t right and I kept texting this person and I started to see red flags then they tried to send me a check through USPS like 70% upfront because they weren’t in town and they wanted my mailing address but something wasn’t right and I felt it so I went back to the property one more time before even responding and the actual owner was there who turn out to be a contractor himself just flipping the house. We spoke a lil he was cool and took my card but he told me the lady he bought the house from and the person I was talking to name was almost identical but yeah was a huge scam. Biggest red flag is when they asked me if I had a WhatsApp and right then and there I knew what was up. Live and you learn just glad I didn’t get too deep into it and actually got to talk to the actual owner.
