What a Spoodle needs.
Let's focus on the more dominant breed traits for the Spaniel, but necessary for the Poodle side also Springers were bred to hunt all day, using their nose, searching cover, flushing game and working closely with their handler. Genetic Outlets Include. 🐾 Scent Work (Highest priority) * Scatter feeding * "Find It" games * Food trails * Scent detection * Hidden toy searches 🎾 Retrieving * Structured retrieves * Dummy retrieves * Ball retrieves with impulse control * Search and retrieve games 🌿 Hunt & Search Games * Searching long grass * Finding hidden toys * Woodland sniff walks * Natural foraging opportunities 🧠 Problem Solving * Puzzle feeders * Shaping exercises * Food enrichment * Obedience with thinking challenges 🤝 Working With The Handler * Loose leash walking with engagement * Heel work * Recall games * Target training * Confidence-building obstacle courses Things to be mindful of: * Excessive ball throwing without structure. * Constant high-intensity play. * Activities that keep her in a prolonged state of excitement. Instead, focus on allowing sniffing, search, think, retrieve and work with you. These activities satisfy her natural instincts while promoting calmer, more balanced behaviour. Remember: A fulfilled Springer-type dog isn't simply tired—it's mentally satisfied because it's had the opportunity to use its nose, solve problems and work as part of a team with its handler.

@Jennifer Mcfarlane it’s so good we have Walky’s to help us with our dogs. My daughters springer is enthusiastically happy running on adrenaline and will do anything for food. My cocker poodle is opposite. She is super gentle, slow, lazy and my god the Springer best not disturb her when she is sleeping 😂 it’s like I’ve got one with ADHD and the other on the spectrum 😬

@Jennifer Mcfarlane hahahaa that’s all we can do and we wouldn’t be without them now 🩷
Congratulations Peppe & Yvie 🎓✨
These two superstars have put in all the hard yards, and it has been such a pleasure watching them grow. They have worked incredibly hard on their engagement, impulse control, and calmness, with every session building on the last. We couldn’t be prouder of both of them and their families. It’s been amazing to watch their confidence blossom 💜💙 Passing level 2 is a milestone worth celebrating, and we can’t wait to watch your journey continue. Keep up the amazing work! Level 3 🔓🐾 @Angela Ianni @Kami Smith
Congratulations Peppe & Yvie 🎓✨

📢 Big Announcement for the Walkys Community…
Something really exciting is happening behind the scenes at Walkys, and we can’t wait to share it with you. Over the past few months we’ve been building, refining, and dreaming about how we can make this community even more valuable for every dog owner here. We’re getting close, and in August we’ll be making a big announcement that we think you’re going to love. Before we lock everything in, we’d love your help. 💬 If we were to run a live community call, what day and time works best for you? Drop your answer in the comments so we can make it as accessible as possible for everyone. 🎁 We’ll also be giving away some awesome prizes during the live and, as always, you’ll walk away with plenty of free training, education, and practical advice you can start using with your dog straight away. We’re genuinely excited about where this community is heading, and we’re so grateful you’re on the journey with us. See you in the comments! 👇🐾

@Nath Morrison thanks. I’m getting more injections in June so hopefully I’m good to go or if not I’ll drag Dave’s butt out of bed to come along and he can do the other part!
Our starting place…
I want life with Yvie to be calm and enjoyable, where she feels comfortable alone and relaxed when we have visitors.

@Nath Morrison we have made a big improvement on her over excitement when her daddy comes home. She used to sit by the front door waiting, then jump all over him, crying and squeaking a toy in her mouth. Now, I put her on place prior to his arrival so she is calm. She is expected to stay on place while he comes in, unloads etc. I have her on the leash and don’t let her off place until she is calm and then she greets him (her favourite). No more jumping and over excitement! I’m looking forward to her staying on place by herself but I think that will be a while yet. Happy with this progress so far.

@Maria Sirianni oh no Maria it’s so frustrating! I think it means, at home, all the hard work is up to us but luckily we are getting support, education and feedback thanks to everyone at Walky’s.
