I spent 35 years building other peoples businesses. The last 7 included mine. My priorities are very different now at 56 than they were when I first started. Here are a few things I’ve realized recently. 1️⃣ I’m not trying to build a giant empire anymore. What matters more to me now is consistent monthly recurring revenue that supports the life I want to live. 2️⃣ Even an extra $1K–$2K a month can be meaningful if it’s invested well and compounded over time. That’s how I’m thinking about income now. 3️⃣ I care a lot more about simplicity than scale. Skool lets me host community, share ideas, and test things without needing a huge stack of tools, teams or overhead. 4️⃣ Being an empty nester and single again has changed how I look at work. I want something I can run from anywhere that still lets me focus on my health, travel, visit my adult kids and the parts of life that matter. 5️⃣ At this stage, it feels less about chasing the next big win and more about building something sustainable that works for me long term.
