Alot of you struggle with getting clients. Before you do any outreach, it's important your portfolios/reels are up-to-date and present your work correctly. Submit your portfolio links down below and I'll review them live and give you some tips 👇

Missed this but I have some questions/comments. What do you think are good ways to store/present your portfolio? I notice some editors use YouTube playlists, others use carrd etc. Should we have multiple portfolios to show to different clients/niches so the client can see only the relevant work or experience? Aside from portfolio stuff... what do you think are other skills or things we should have down before reaching for clients? Things like... commonplace terminology in the industry, reasonable timelines/workpaces we should be comfortable with, realistic expectations. Something I'd like to know as well, what is reasonable pay for this sort of work? Is there an industry standard or something?

Let's share some editing tips
I'll start off with how to not get distracted while editing. 1- Use the chrome extenstion "Unhook" to remove recommended videos on Youtube to stay focused. 2- Have a specific workflow that works for you so you can get into that flow state 3- Use the Twitter timeline eradicator extension so you don't get addicted to twitter while editing 4- Sometimes you may not be focused on editing just simply because you're bored or tired so its okay to take breaks. You could use the Pomodoro tracker technique. You work for a bit then take a break. e.g 30 minutes of work, 10 minutes of break. Adding to the tips though... I'll recommend some add-ons I've acquired. Excalibur - highly customizable pop up menu in premiere pro. Let's you bind almost any action you'd want to a key and execute scripts to make tasks easier. It takes some time to set up but it's so Modular it can be useful for anyone! Submachine - useful for generating animated subtitles for videos like how it's done on tiktok. It also helps with getting one familiar with mogrts!

@Hexate Editor I actually never experimented with the built in auto caption but last I remember the auto caption creates a caption track right? Submachine creates mogrt clips and you can use various animations that can also highlight or animate the current word being spoken Since I've gotten better at mogrt tweaking I wanna check this out again tbh

My knowledge of the program has gotten better since I doubled down on programming however I lack experience working for clients or marketing. I believe I have the skills to work in this though I've even developed some extendscript stuff and used the Adobe API I just need to be given tasks lol. In terms of editing faster.. need projects to gauge my speed but I enjoy optimizing processes so making project templates/accruing assets and such is fun for me.
