Joy Is an Act of Resistance (and Sometimes a GIF War)
The poet Toi Derricotte begins her poem from "The Telly Cycle" with the line: "Joy is an act of resistance." In the poem, Derricotte writes about her fish, Telly. She places a postcard-sized painting behind his bowl, wondering whether he notices the beauty she has arranged for him. What follows is a tender meditation on wonder, connection, loss, and the tiny moments that make a life feel meaningful. (Curious? You can read the complete poem here.) Joy is an act of resistance. I find myself thinking about that line a lot lately. In a world overflowing with politics, productivity hacks, algorithms, breaking news, and endless notifications, I've become increasingly interested in finding small pockets of joy. Tiny acts of connection. Unexpected moments of humanity. Which brings me to @Joseph Isosaki. A few weeks ago, Joseph posted something on Skool that may go down as one of the most important contributions to modern civilization: GIF WARS. The instructions were simple: "... only GIFS ... this is the best use of your time right now! ... a loving reminder to keep Skool fun!" Below the post was a GIF of Napoleon Dynamite getting slapped. I immediately felt called and responded with a GIF of Bruce Lee looking impossibly cool, accompanied by a comment about "an outrageous misuse of productivity." Unfortunately, I didn't fully understand the assignment. GIFs only. No commentary. Joseph immediately countered with a cartoon character aggressively shushing me, which made me laugh out loud. Unfortunately for Joseph, my partner and I had recently rewatched all three Austin Powers films, and suddenly all I could hear was Dr. Evil screaming, "Zip it!" from the depths of my delightfully distracted brain. And so began a completely unnecessary, deeply important, and wildly entertaining GIF battle, fueled largely by Austin Powers and his wonderfully ridiculous cast of characters.

❤️ The Lovers: What Is Calling to You?
I recently completed a course on The Lovers (perfect timing with Gemini season!) with my students, and we had such a wonderful time learning the technique I developed to truly connect with each card and having plenty of fun along the way. Since The Lovers is a card of choice, connection, and values, I thought I would give you a little choice quiz of your own. As you look at the card below, what calls to you the most? ❤️ The woman ❤️ The man ❤️ The angel ❤️ The mountain ❤️ The fruit in the tree ❤️ The flames in the other tree ❤️ The serpent Don't overthink it! Simply notice what catches your eye first. Share your answer in the comments, and I will reply with some symbolic insight and a reflective question for you to explore!

Hi everyone! This is my traveling sacred space. 😄 (This is at a Pure Barre studio. I play sound baths in all kinds of places. 😊)
Welcome Christine Galione to Arcana & Insight! 🎶🌿
Please join me in giving a warm Arcana & Insight welcome to our newest member, @Christine Galione! Christine is the creator of From the Wild - Sound Healing, a beautiful community rooted in nature. She is a sound healing practitioner, meditation teacher, breathwork facilitator, musician, and collector of nature sounds. Her mission is to help people slow down, quiet the mental chatter, and reconnect with themselves through immersive experiences inspired by the natural world. Christine, I absolutely love what you are creating. Sound healing feels so needed in our chaotic, noisy world. A few questions for you: 🎶 What first called you to sound healing? 🎶 Do you have a favorite instrument, frequency, or nature sound that you love working with? 🎶 If you could create the ultimate healing experience anywhere in the world, where would it be? For a future Meet & Greet, we would love to learn more about your work. And if you ever feel called to share one of your meditations or sound healing experiences with the community, we would be absolutely delighted.

What a warm and beautiful welcome! Thank you so much! What first called me to sound healing was actually a merging of two of my passions: music and wellbeing. I've been a musician all my life and was a singer/songwriter out playing gigs all over Northern Virginia for a while. I was also working a very difficult corporate job that almost killed me because of the stress. I totally manifest myself getting laid off so I could start my own wellness business, and for the last year and a half I've been sort of wandering this entrepreneurial path that I NEVER thought I would be on. I started with meditation and became a meditation teacher/guide, then finished my Reiki Master training, then became a breathwork facilitator, and "stumbled" upon sound healing last year and absolutely fell in love with it. I really have no idea how I didn't start doing this sooner as a lifelong musician!! But it is now my favorite modality of all the ones I've learned over the last few years. And now I'm selling out sound healing events, which is truly unbelievable to me!! My favorite sound - wow this is a tough one. I love rain. And forest sounds. Wind. And waves. Ok I can't answer this question, lol. As far as my instruments, right now I am loving my low C crystal bowl. It's deep and resonant and whenever I play it I feel this deep fulfilling feeling. I will also always be a huge koshi chime advocate!! Omg the ultimate healing experience anywhere in the world.. wow. The first thing that comes to mind is Niagara Falls. I have no idea how that would work because I know the falls are so loud!! But it would be really neat to somehow incorporate that. Also I think a jungle would be REALLY cool with all of the various sounds/animals/life that jungles hold. I also have a dream of starting a luxury nature resort with my partner, Jonathan, who is very into nature, surviving/thriving in the outdoors, camping, etc. We hope to build a beautiful sound healing structure on the resort which will be somewhere in the Blueridge Mountains of Virginia. Very much looking forward to that. We both have 16 year olds, so once they're in college, off we go!! 😄

I create experiences that quiet the stress response and help people connect to their true selves through sound, meditation, breathwork, and retreats.
