Canadian option for dog harnesses etc.
For those of you that use harnesses, I recommend a Canadian company called Saker based out of Quebec so you don’t have to buy American! They also make leashes and collars. Below is Titus modeling his harness collar and leash!

Echo has one as well! And the extra part, “traction” is working well as she learns to pull (it turns the harness into a recreational dog sled/canicross/skijoring harness without having to special order something).
Forward and yet, also a little backwards…
Yesterday, I had Echo trying out being in the bedroom instead of the crate all day (50/50 split). It went so well!! She slept on the bed, but I’m calling it a win. Today was a different story. She had a wonderful field trip and got her portrait taken for a fundraiser. She then refused to stay in the bedroom and tried to break through the window. And tonight after work, I forgot that she missed me a lot and didn’t want to be a part. She has now gone through screen number two to get to me. We are making progress and I’m really glad I know how to fix the screen.

Crate help
Pepper is having issues staying in her crate throughout the night. Last night she woke up at 1am crying until someone goes in the room. The night before she was crying at 4am. It’s hard when I have to be up early for work. How can we fix this?

Echo has learned that “kennel” means she’s trapped. She has started running from Me instead - even for meals. I’ll leave her food dish in the kennel for a bit but if she doesn’t go in, I take it out. It’s a hard process and they learn very quickly! I hope Pepper learns to love her crate asap!! I 100% am experiencing the same!!
Making the Sled Dog Work
Celebrating Echo’s success with her separation anxiety is easier when you make her work for it. She wants to be a part of everything, so she gets to work! Cannot wait til winter when she will be pulling Me!

Evil kennels
So Echo still hates her crate, but in all honesty, it’s being away from me she hates the most. I am working on short bursts, and I keep watch of her, but an hour of her stressed and panting/barking/crying/negotiating with her higher power/etc. feels awful on my heart. Probably on my neighbours’ ears, too. Unfortunately I can’t take her to work for that much longer - my boss is patient, but that patience will run out. Any help/ideas on crate training?

She also thinks she can drive…. She’s actually better when I leave her in the car. She barks for a minute then settles. And I left her there today for 2-2.5 hours with quick check ins by colleagues. I have to work on leaving and showing her I come back when she’s at home in the kennel..
