Cost of different AI programs
I’ve played a little with chat GPT ( free version) which limited me to 3 questions. I’m curious, is everyone paying for the different AI programs? What are the most important ones to pay for monthly if you had to choose? Below is copied from classroom “Here's what I use (you don't need all of it): - ChatGPT (Plus) - for writing drafts and outlining ideas - Claude - for longer documents and thoughtful rewriting - Perplexity.ai - for quick research and source summaries - Notion + Google Drive - for storing and organizing everything - Grammarly or Hemingway - for tightening language without losing tone”

@Don Southerton I’m using Claude a little now, liking it better so far.

@Diana Strong Thanks I’ll keep it in mind
My Writing Looks Bot Generated
Here is an interesting situation, I wrote an Investment Summary of 10 pages after significant manual research. I have trained 2 LLMs to write in a specific style, which then helps me with proper grammar, word selection and layout. It got rejected today since it looks bot generated? Not sure what to think about this??

The Transformative Power of Nothingness and the Singularity of Everything
I have now been in this VA hospital for six weeks and the poking and prodding hasn't ceased. My assessment and evaluation at this East Orange NJ Spinal Cord Injury/ Disease hub was over 5 days after I arrived. I just can't go back to my former home. Not accessible and won't be made accessible. I'm now fighting for VA disability and Social Security. I'm also writing while rehabilitating two major spinal surgeries over the past two years: https://www.nobigrush.com if you're interested in details. So, I have a February 1 deadline for my Social Security stack of paperwork nearly an inch thick (all of which I already filled out online) that I'm sure they gave me to frustrate me and grind me down to deny me benefits. Oh yeah, physical therapy and occupational therapy schedules are intense as well as doctors poking and prodding. Then I write to inspire others not to give up. That's a priority to me. But, I have to take care of the other things or I can't do what I love to do. Ughhh! Anyway, thanks for having me. Hear me rant on Medium. I'd love some criticism of my whining and boo-hooing.

Absolutely no criticism from me! In 2020 I was making $90,000 a year and saving half for my future travel dreams. I was an RN and caught COVID, brain fog so bad I resigned and went home to recover. I expected to need a few months BUT just continued to decline with multiple viral side effects from COVID and also undiagnosed LYME for a year. My brain was so impacted that I had aphasia at times and couldn’t do simple math. I would hand clerks the $ in my hand because I couldn’t figure out what yo give them ( if I didn’t use my debit card). I thought I had sudden onset of dementia and I was pissed after working my ass off since I was 15-61, 35 years as an RN, 25 in hospitals ( the HARDEST work environment)! I had to spend down everything I saved on mostly medical bills until I qualified for Medicaid after a few years. In 2025 my multiple specialists figured out a medical regimen that has helped me get back some quality of life. I actually need to apply for disability.. my brain couldn’t handle it until 2025 and I’m a procrastinator by nature. I have learned so much from Disability Digest. It is free education with Utube videos and a website. They also have trained people to help with the process, unlike a legal firm there is no hard sell. I have learned a lot over the years, here is the link https://www.thedisabilitydigest.com/?inf_contact_key=5dd14e363613668db52e3fc48fc33c75cc0558ed5d4c28cbfab114022b1ec50d Good Luck John

@John Rushton Yes.. I was often told growing up that I would cut off my nose to spite my face! I wanted things my way! Your poem is so descriptive of self hate. It’s excellent. Wow a different view from an RN, about the CDC, COVID was brutal in the hospitals with so many sick, trying to wear isolation gear constantly. I was running a clinic in a warehouse and had boxes of everything I needed. My friends were reusing N95 masks that were designed for 1 use. It was crazy. Hospital nursing is really tough without staffing ratios. I can give excellent care to 5 fairly ill people and often had 7 or 8 patients on a regular floor and 3 in the ICU. Anyway, good luck! You have been having a really tough time like the rest of us!

I took the prologue to notes and then edited to tighten it. Here is the original…. Followed by my change Prologue In the book The Artist’s Way, Julia Cameron recommends writing the “morning pages.” Essentially, hand-written pages that end up like a stream of consciousness as your brain transitions from sleep to wakefulness. You end up getting some fascinating ideas on paper. My “idea” and personal insights are shared in this, my latest book, “Making of a Writer: A 25-Year Chronicle” tells the story behind my career as a published author. In drafting this account, several recollections surfaced. One was from 54 years ago, during my early college years, for a freshman English class creative essay; the other was 18 years later, amid a life crisis. In the first case, I was struggling in class and asked for little support from the instructor, not to mention that I had found other passions. In the second case, I was soon back to my work routine and did not pursue. Plaigiarizing a good point below re: online job boards, Part 1.
Dear Group: Someone had what I think is a really good point below that I did not think get enough attention. What if part of the problem is not the 'job market' generally? What if part of the problem is that online job boards have turned into traps - traps that Hoover up our time and effort? As I understand it, there may be 2-3 big problems with online job boards: #1. Some of these postings are for positions where the employer does not really want to hire, if not outright scams. #2. The remaining announcements get flooded with responses, often with unqualified people, within hours of posting. #3. There may be bots these days that automatically further flood such postings with responses. Actually, I am not sure whether this problem number #3 is more of a problem than #2. Put all these factors together, and hunting for a job on online job boards may become something more akin to playing the lottery. Are we de facto gambling for jobs instead of looking for them? But what to do about this situation? I hope to attempt some suggestions in my next post.

I think that’s an excellent point. I get so much crap email ….. the job boards are probably the same way.
