New lathe
After having a play with a Pathfinder lathe on the Record Power stand at Makers Central, I decide it was time to get my own, rather than rely on the shared machine at the HackSpace. It turned up today, and I'm really impressed. There is a lot of lathe here for the price, and will be perfect of hybrid resin projects. (Please ignore the graffiti left by the previous owners of my shed...๐Ÿคฃ)

@Nikita Kinney oh nice yess you are on the right path. We all started with the small things ๐Ÿ˜Š Getting into hybrid turnings some of the easiest projects are pens, dragon eggs, goblets. Bigger the project the more complexity is added on. Vases, urns and bowls where hollowing needed again ads an extra level of complexity but you learn to handle that along the way

@Nikita Kinney Thank you ๐Ÿ™‚ They are a super fast version of a project making for sure ๐Ÿ˜€
Pouring resin in hot weather
This is certainly not recommended but was curious to see how my deep pour resin copes with hot temperatures. 3L resin in single pour up to about 5cm (2โ€) in 33C (91F) and after two days it turned out perfect. Only used some cheap cookie as I was prepared this might fail. Used transparent so i can see if there are any signs of exothermic reaction. Resin did go up about 41C (106F) while curing. Controlling temperature while working with resin is one of the most important factors to get it right. I know in winter time I could have poured more and deeper but every resin has limits

Which Resin for Layers
I recently watched the course on types of Resins. Iโ€™ve seen some projects where resin is applied to layers of paper or denim. Which type of resin would work best for that?

Here I glued together 500 layers of denim to make this vase. I used deep pour resin as I needed long pot time since this process took about 2 hrs. So it is depending on the size of the project and time needing for glue up. For a small project gluing couple of layers together i would use fast curing resin like table top resin but if you will be gluing the layers together for more than 15-20 mins then go with deep pour.
Makers Central
Since we have quite a few new members joined after Makers Central just wanted to welcome everyone and say thank you for coming over to my stand to chat ๐Ÿ˜€ It was an amazing show even my son helped me a for a little, bless him. ๐Ÿ˜Š
