@Lex Christopherson ha! Yes it looks closer than it was. I was laughing about that while editing.
Why You Don’t Need Social Media To Succeed In Music
Just uploaded a new video breaking down why social media isn’t the make-or-break factor for a successful music career. In this one, I dive into: • How I’ve achieved 70M streams without obsessing over Instagram or TikTok • Why ads and playlisting can be way more effective than endless posting • The bigger question: Why are you making music in the first place? 🤔 If you’ve ever felt burnt out trying to “play the game,” this one’s for you. Let me know your thoughts after watching - what you think about my take? ⬇️

your honesty about the music industry is refreshing. if it has no passion...don't do it. however using the tools and taking action so people can hear what you want them to hear is a no brainer. i'm a rock dude, and i love dub. i know zilch about the dance music scene but i love music and when a "track" or "song" hits there is no denying it. thats the point. fuck everything else. don't discard everything else just don't let it be another distraction.
My Song "The Greatest Reset"
Click Here to check it out. This is my band The Folk Souls. This was Tara's (drums/vocals) first time playing on stage at a real show. This was recorded on an iphone but turned out pretty good. What inspired this song was my positive affirmation in response to "the Great Reset" and "you will own nothing and be happy". The hook is a mantra I appropriated from Derrick Broze. I Am Powerful, I Am Beautiful, I Am Free! - What did you learn making it? That I am happier seeking heart based solutions rather than dwelling on things I can't change. - Is there anything you would have done differently looking back now? When we record this song in studio I will change the melody at the end to not be so yelly and something more in my range.

@Craig Williams thanks
I Released 115 Songs… 5 Biggest Lessons I Learned
1. Trust Your Heart – When I made decisions based on data or trends, I ended up disappointed. But the songs I believed in? Those became the hits. 2. Consistency is Everything – Growth happens when you commit to showing up regularly. Release often, even if you’re not 100% happy. 3. Be Your Own Champion – No one will hear your music if you don’t share it. Post it, promote it, and don’t worry about feeling annoying. 4. Numbers Are a Numbers Game – More music = more chances to connect. Release lots of music, and let time and unexpected moments work their magic. 5. Boost Your Signal – Running ads (like Facebook or Instagram ads) can be a game-changer. Invest in yourself to get heard. Making a music career isn’t easy, and it never becomes “effortless.” But with heart, consistency, and a willingness to invest in yourself, you can make a meaningful impact. ----- What have been the biggest lessons you guys have learned on your journeys so far?

This was really helpful. It’s easier to see where we are coming up short, when someone like you tells it like it is in your personal context. Thanks.

@Travis Basso my son is eight. I make mostly rock and folk but I would lime to start doing more chill, dub type stuff. I got my permaculture design certification in 2015, I don’t have a professional portfolio but I help my gardener friends do design and I specialize in using the 8-forms of capital to help them figure out where their strengths and weaknesses are.
