Getting feedback before releasing tracks…
Just wondering how people share their music for feedback on tracks they intend to release? Seems counter productive to have tracks on something like soundcloud if they are going to be released on a label or even on a different platform like Bandcamp for instance. What are your thought’s regarding this? Interested to see what opinions are shared. ✌️

Usually I just send a google drive link to anyone I'm sharing demos with
Favourite way of creating "atmospheres"?
Melodic, textural, or otherwise? I love recording the sound of rain drops, waves, or wind in the trees (birds can be gorgeous too if I make sure they're singing in tune with the track), shaping it with EQ, and sending it to a delay + reverb channel... and then moving those textures around to create risers and special moments ✨

I’ve been playing around with an octave reverse delay pedal I built, crank the feedback up and things start getting pretty wacky but if you heavily filter it you can get these beautiful muffled yet somehow still shimmery textures!
Drifting Days - CABIN
This is the title track off my recent album, and I feel that it sums up the album thematically. Grappling with self doubt and searching for a purpose, all while trying to stay upbeat and grateful for all that we're given. Any and all feedback welcome! I'm fairly new to all this so I already feel like this song feels a bit behind where I'm at now, but it's my fave that's currently released. https://open.spotify.com/track/3t9ZiAAXA6nfE8MN9o1W9D?si=f8060066c7864fb5

@Deleted thanks! Definitely a big inspiration :)
What non-musical skill or hobby that has influenced the way you make music the most?
For me, it's cooking 🧑‍🍳 I tend to use a lot of cooking metaphors in music; from mise en place to spice combinations to order of processes. I've had a lot of problem solving breakthroughs whilst making dinner. "That's it!" I say, running back to the DAW, with duck juice dripping down my arms.

Graphic design was my gateway into making music and I feel like so many basic concepts translate to songwriting. Balance, hierarchy, restrictions in colour/sonic palettes, cohesion - all these things fit so well in both mediums and it's been a joy to combine them.
What's up!
Hey pals, I'm Dave (CABIN on streaming). I'm based in Vancouver, and got my start with music during the dark days of Covid when I started learning guitar. Since then have fallen in love with songwriting and have released an EP and album. Working on my next one now! Excited to connect with likeminded creatives. Shoot me a message if you're looking for some album art! Been working as a graphic designer for musicians for a while and would love to help out anyone who's looking for guidance or design feedback. I'd love to improve on recording and mixing in general, feeling very new to that game! Cheers! https://open.spotify.com/track/3t9ZiAAXA6nfE8MN9o1W9D?si=f8060066c7864fb5
