Share 5 things that are working in business and/or life
A few days ago, John Bejakovic wrote an email outlining what's working for him right now... in business and in life. Then he sent out an email prompt (for those who are subscribed to his Daily Email Habit) with the same. Reading his "what's working" list was interesting, so I figured I'd share mine... and maybe turn it into a prompt for you guys, too. What's working for you right now? In your work/business... or in your life? Make a list of 5 things and share with us! (10 is better, but may be overkill for a community, so let's go with 5 for now, but feel free to come up with 10 ideas for yourself... usually the longer the list, the better and more revealing they are.) I'll start 👇

1. Starting the day by figuring out what my priorities actually need to be for the day. 2. Attacking those priorities. 3. Actual breaks - I stop and read at least a chapter at lunch. 4. Switching tasks when my wheels are spinning or I'm just plain tired of that task. Sometimes, it's not that I'm tired and need to stop for the day but that I need to switch tasks because I'm not making progress on the current one. 5. Sticking my phone behind me. It's so easy to pick it up and tell myself I'm only going to use it for a few minutes and watch 20 minutes and then much more time disappear doing something I'm not actually enjoying.

@Maliha M a break between tasks can be a really great way to switch gears/tasks. Not all breaks need to be long, either - a five minute break is still a break.
How would you make $100 from your newsletter
I had the Monetization Q&A this morning. It was a small group (3 people aside from me) so we had fun just casually chatting, bouncing off ideas, and then sharing our mutual dislike of Substack (or rather the people who run it). In any case, @Megan Justice, who is happy with her tax filing business, but also has a newsletter on the side for people who are interested in learning about Megan's work, mentioned she'd like to make at least $100 consistently from her newsletter. This was humbling and reminded me of a book I read recently by Travis Sago, Fans & Fortunes Formula. In it, Travis reminds us that while we, the expert business owners, often look at the bigger picture (how to make six figures), our audience isn't necessarily there. Like Megan... she's not trying to make a six-figure blogging business. She already has a successful business that keeps her busy... but she also enjoys having her newsletter on the side, and thinks it would be nice to make some money off it. So... my question to all of you: How would you make $100 consistently (say every week) from a small newsletter? I have my ideas that I shared with Megan, but I'd love to crowdsource a few if you have thoughts?

@Honey Syed You've got some good thoughts in here. Unfortunately, my list is too small more sponsors to even sneeze at. I also don't tow the line in my industry - I'm not embracing AI like my peers think I should. I have some really great thoughts about some products to start putting out there after Maliha's Perfect First Offer webinar yesterday, though they're not things my current list would want to take advantage of. And Maliha's 100% correct about consistency - there are times of the year I'm just not as available because of what I do and there's not much I can do about that.

@Maliha M it's more likely to happen with affiliate links from Amazon than sponsored posts, especially given my audience of primarily tax and accounting professionals.
Multiple subscriptions...?
I have a lot of respect for folks who run multiple subscriptions. One is hard enough.... But some people do it pretty well. Like... look at Travis Sago. I talked about him a few times recently, and even mentioned one of his books in my emails... Fans and Fortunes Formula... which inspired me to create some of my own recent low-risk, low-effort, quick win offers, which I'll be workshopping with you guys on the 21st (sign up here if you haven't yet, btw.) Now, Travis runs multiple subscriptions simultaneously, and somehow that works. In fact, I think he has offer overlaps, AND some people may even subscribe to at least two Skool groups.... Anyway, the idea of multiple subscriptions has been bouncing around in my head, and I needed an outlet, so here you go. I personally do not have the bandwidth to create a second subscription under the same business, not yet, anyway. But I was thinking if it would be worthwhile to maybe consider a separate subscription, outside of The Side Blogger. Speaking of subscriptions... I've also been reading a book called Retention Economics by a guy named Thomas Lalas (who is, for some reason, a member of the Vault... probably because he wanted to support my business... oh well...🙃)... and it has me daydreaming about multiple subscriptions.... I'm also wondering if I should ask him to come have a chat with my members about subscriptions and retentions... no promises tho... considering I haven't even talked to him, and he may very well not want to... but yeah, anyway... just thinking out loud. All that said... are there any of you who already have a membership or subscription business? If not, are you planning to start one? And if you already do, thoughts on multiple subscriptions???

Multiple subscriptions is just a time to graduate to managing clients through a robust, Database driven CRM. Email tools can be used as a CRM, but, they start flopping when they're being asked to to do much (which list is the person on AND which memberships they've subscribed to starts to get to be too much for an email list tool). Most people gravitate toward Airtable and/or Notion when that starts happening. I use Coda. That said, please talk to an attorney AND a tax person before creating additional/separate entities (businesses), especially if the goals and/or products are related to each other. Tell them, "I want to do X (start expanding my subscription options so there's more than one thing my clients/customers can subscribe to)." Then ask, "What's the my best options for doing so to meet these other goals (usually low cost, minimize administrative burden, share resources such as client lists, accounting/bookkeeping, and other, similar administrative tools). Also ask at what point the simplified structure stops working well/making sense. You don't want to inadvertently create 6 different businesses with likely six different filing requirements.

@Aneisha Velazquez I didn't realize you were in here! Sounds like it's time to partner up and auction off some advisory services.
What are you working on?
What are you doing this week? Any offers, posts, lead magnets, client work? As for me, I'm trying to wrap up some of the bonuses I promised to my brand new yearly Vault members, writing the first Medium story in a while, and prepping for the offer workshop I'm doing on Thursday. Share yours? 👇

I *want* to do fun things like dive into summer offerings and services. I *need* to get some tax returns out the door and billed. I'll end up putting my focus first on/to tax returns and second to new/fun things.
Mastering Medium With Dan Foster (Recording)
Yesterday's session on Mastering Medium in 2026 with @Dan Foster was simply fantastic! I've been wanting to get back on Medium as a discovery channel for my main blog + newsletter, but I kept wondering if it'd be a good use of my time or not... After listening to Dan, I'm ready to get back on it ASAP. Medium is useful on two fronts, from what I can tell: - You can make a decent income from it. Dan consistently makes between $5k and $10k from there. Just last month, Dan made ~$7.5k just from Medium's Partner Program - It can be a discovery channel for your primary business, newsletter, and even offers, where Medium acts like a medium- to long-form social media platform for you. After you've gone through the mastery session, if you have any questions, Dan is in this group, fyi, so feel free to ask him anything (tag him so he knows that you're asking him a question). So yeah, anyway. Here's the recording (free if you're a Vault member, and if you're not, you can always sign up. It's $27/month until May 15, then jumps up to $37/month). https://members.thesideblogger.com/mastery-sessions/mastering-medium-in-2026-with-dan-foster/ You can find Dan here: - Medium - Skool
