💃 PREMIUM + VIP DROP: BATALLA DE CUMBIAS
Since we’re celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month, today I have a new cultural lesson just for our Premium + VIP members! 💜 A lot of you have told me before: “Lalu, I love cumbia!” But here's the thing… 👀 there isn’t just ONE cumbia. Cumbia has traveled across Latin America and developed VERY different sounds depending on the country. So today… we’re having a BATTLE OF THE CUMBIAS. 😂🔥 In this new lesson, we’re exploring: - Colombian cumbia -Mexican cumbia -Argentinian cumbia 🎯 YOUR CHALLENGE: After watching, come back here and tell me: 1. Which cumbia was your favorite: Colombian, Mexican, or Argentinian? Why? 2. Find ONE cumbia song from ANY Latin American country and share it in the comments! 🎶 Tell us the country too! Let’s turn the comments into our own LALUSPEAKS cumbia playlist. 💃🕺 Premium + VIP fam, your new lesson is ready! 💜 WATCH IT HERE ¡Que empiece la batalla! 🔥

How to Understand Colombian Sarcasm 👀
Sometimes Colombians say something that sounds super positive… when we actually mean the COMPLETE opposite. 😂 “¡Qué belleza!” “¡Muy bonito!” “Buenas noches al señor/a la señorita…” 👀 If you translate these literally, you might completely miss what we’re actually trying to say. In this quick video, I’m breaking down 3 very common examples of Colombian sarcasm, what we actually mean, and how you could express a similar idea in English. Because understanding Spanish isn’t just about knowing the words… it’s about understanding the culture, the tone, and the intention behind them.💜 📄 I also left you a little guide with more examples so you can review them after watching. Now tell me 👇 Have you ever heard a Colombian say one of these? Or what other sarcastic expressions have you heard in Spanish? 😂

Yo nunca oí de estos. O no puedo recall. Mi ex novia de Puerto Rico estaba reina de sarcasm. But one phrase I use depends on the circumstances. Por ejemplo, alguien camina a mi lado y entonces ellos trip. I would say, "be careful, there's a floor right there."
🔥 MINI SPANISH CHALLENGE — EVERYONE CAN PLAY! 🔥
VIPs have been talking about CUMBIA this week 💃🏻🕺🏻 but today I want EVERYONE in on the fun 👀 Your challenge: 🎶 Drop ONE Spanish song in the comments that you’re currently obsessed with. BUTTTT… you have to tell us why you like it IN SPANISH 👀 Beginners, keep it simple: 👉 Me gusta porque es divertida. 👉 Me gusta porque puedo bailar. 👉 Me encanta la letra. 👉 Me recuerda a Colombia. Intermediate/advanced… I expect more from youuuu 😂 Tell us the story! Bonus points if you listen to someone else’s song and reply to their comment 👀 Okayyy… ¿qué canción estás escuchando últimamente? 🎧👇

🔥 BONUS: MAKE IT PERSONAL La canción básicamente pregunta una y otra vez: “¿Cómo te hago entender?” Ahora tú: ¿Qué cosa te cuesta hacerle entender a alguien? 😂 Puede ser serio o completamente random: ¿Cómo le hago entender a mi mamá que…? ¿Cómo le hago entender a mi pareja que…? ¿Cómo le hago entender a mi jefe/cliente que…? Escribe UNA frase en los comentarios. 👇
