🤝 Foundations Fun Week — Lesson 3: Help Your Friend, Don’t Correct
Helloooo Paw Partners 👋 Most of us wait too long. We’re patient… until the barking, pulling, or lunging starts. Then we redirect, or plead: “Leave it! Come ON!” But what if you could step in earlier — kindly, gently — and help your dog before things go sideways? That’s where SCATTER (or if want a calmer reaction FIND IT) comes in. 🎉 Both are simple, satisfying, and they almost always help reset your dog. 🐕 Your Quick Win Today: 1. As soon as your dog starts to shift (not meltdown) — say “Scatter!” 2. Toss a handful of small treats on the ground nearby. 3. Encourage them to sniff and search. 4. When they relax or check back in — mark it ➡️ Reward it ✅ ✅ You’ve just helped, not corrected. (For more details — including how to use Find It — check the full lesson in the Classroom.) 💬 Try it today and share below: - Did Scatter or Find It shift your dog’s focus? - How did it feel to help instead of correct? 📸 Bonus if you catch your dog happily sniffing for rewards from you! 👉 Don’t forget: open the lesson in the Classroom and tick the ✅ in the top-right corner when you’re done. You’ll see your progress bar move closer to 100%! See you tomorrow for Lesson 4: Magic Moments ✨

Timing is all important here!
🌟 What Do You Love (Besides Dogs)? 🌟
We spend so much time talking about our pups 🐶 … now let's get to know more about the two legged partner too! 👉 What’s one thing you really enjoy that has nothing to do with dogs? Something you do regularly or wish you could do more often. It could be a hobby, guilty pleasure, favourite food, adventure, or just something that makes you smile. 🎬 Drop a GIF in the comments that shows it off! I’ll go first…

🐾 Foundations Fun Week — Let’s Begin!
Helloooo Paw Partners 👋 This week I want to introduce you to the Paw Partner Foundations mini-course. To be honest, I put it up a while ago and haven’t polished it… but if you play along and tell me what you like (and what’s confusing), you’ll get my full attention this week with tips for helping you and your dog be better partners! It’s short, simple, and full of small wins that make a big difference in how you and your dog connect. 👉 The course unlocks at Level 2. If you’re there already — congrats, it’s waiting for you in the Classroom! 🎉 👉 If you’re still at Level 1 — you’re so close. Just browse the community posts, drop a few comments, give thumbs up or share a photo or story in 🗣️ Chat’n Brag or Fun and Tales 🤣 and you’ll level up in no time. 💬 Let’s keep it easy. For now just drop a GIF, comment, or photo of your doggo! See you tomorrow with Lesson 1. Partners in Life and Adventure! Arrrooooo! Maren and Ivy 💚🐾

🌀 Learning & Training Isn’t A Straight Line. 🎢
We wish it went: SET A GOAL → ACHIEVE IT 🏆 …but in real life it looks more like: START 🐾 → DOUBT 😬 → FAIL 🤦‍♀️ → PRACTICE 🔄 → STRUGGLE 🥴 → GET IT 🎉 And that’s normal! Even with a plan, the winds can shift — your dog’s mood, your timing, or a new distraction out in the wild. 👉 What skill are you working on at the moment? 👉 Which “dot” are YOU on right now with your dog? (p.s. when I work with clients I often use a simple 3-phase approach to help protect your training while you’re out in the real world… more on that soon 😉) I might add a story about Cinnamon too ...

@Maren Bruun me too! The annoying thing is minutes later he was letting me handle his paws! I don’t get it. He likes the smell of the cream - I let him sniff first and he was more than willing to stick his nose in it. He can cope with me touching his paws. So where’s the issue with putting cream on? It doesn’t sting or anything like that. I don’t know any other midway action to take.

@Maren Bruun perfect sense thank you - at least it gives us a starting point to work on
Human v Dog
I saw a post earlier today which read as follows: “Two species, a human and a dog. The human has approximately 1 billion neurons in their brain while the canine has appoximately 500 million. This is a comparison of the two species and the silly expectations people place on dogs: 1) Human - Given two plus years to accomplish potty training. 1) Canine - Human wants canine potty trainined in two weeks or they will have to rehome the dog....Please take the diaper off your eight month old human and let them crawl around your floor, lets just see the results.... 2) Human - Gives human babies pain relievers and various numbing agents to help appease the pain of teething. 2) Canine - Punished for chewing on things that they find that eases their pain. 3) Human - Encourages young humans to run and play with endless forms of mental and physical stimulation. 3) Canine - “I have got to teach this dog to calm down!!!” 4) Human - Given 20 plus years to complete an education and become a productive member of society. 4) Canine - Expected to behave flawlessly for life after taking just one six week obedience class. 5) Human - Given sick and personal days from work and endless excuses for poor performance. 5) Canine - Expected to perfom perfectly 365 days a year with no questions asked. Canines are also not allowed to feel bad or forget. 6) Human - Expects a pay raise anually for the job they perform. 6) Canine - Humans demand their dog perform better every year without continued education and also don’t believe they should reward the dog for the work they perform. Canines are used everyday to keep us humans safe in a multitude of ways. -They are our eyes when ours go dark~ -They are our ears when ours fall silent~ -They are our noses to help find bombs, drugs, cancer, and allergens to keep us safe from harm~ -They are trained to alert us to an oncoming seizure or low blood sugar attack~ -They help find missing victims of natural and man-made disasters~ They protect us from harm everyday, without expecting healthcare, a raise, a title, a better car, a bigger office or one with a view, and….they do this for us all because of their innate desire to please.

@Maren Bruun thankfully most of my dog loving friends aren’t this unrealistic either. But society seems to be heading this way - tolerance for our canine companions shrinking rather than growing.
