So what makes a jacket casual?
Good question right? Answer these and see... Does your jacket โ–ก Have a relaxed, comfortable fit? โ–ก Prioritise comfort and everyday wear over formal tailoring? โ–ก Use casual fabrics such as denim, cotton, canvas, corduroy, fleece or nylon? โ–ก Have little or no shoulder padding or structured tailoring? โ–ก Include practical features like patch pockets, zip closures, hoods or ribbed cuffs? โ–ก Finish around the waist or hip for easy layering? โ–ก Pair naturally with everyday outfits like jeans, T-shirts, knitwear or casual dresses? โ–ก Suit activities like running errands, commuting or weekend outings? โ–ก Feel more relaxed than a blazer or suit jacket? If you ticked most of these boxes, you've got a casual jacket! Find this image here

๐ŸŒŸ Sewing Mojo Reset ๐ŸŒŸAnd a Video
*Updated* The tool is now hosted off Claude - so you dont have to join or sign up to anything to use!! When we've lost all motivation with our sewing, we often refer to it as losing our "sewing mojo" and we feel a bit let down by the thing we love. Until now!!! I made a fun interactive tool for you to play with called the Sewing Mojo Reset. Click on the link and see for yourself. Theres a video walk through below also. Let me know what results it gives you!

Leveling up celebration!
A big congratulations to our members who have been levelling up recently! Congratulations to: - Jan Appleton โ€“ Level 4 - Jane Harbison โ€“ Level 4 - Glenna James โ€“ Level 2 - Judy Lange โ€“ Level 2 I dont usually put a lot of emphasis on the leaderboards because life isnt a competition. But every level represents something valuable - asking questions, sharing your projects, helping others, and being an active part of Sewing Boss. This community grows because of members who jump in, encourage each other, and keep learning together. Whether you've just joined or you're working your way through the levels, every contribution makes a difference. Keep the conversations going, share what you're making, ask for help when you need it, and celebrate each other's wins. Before you know it, you'll be seeing your own name in one of these posts! Well done, everyone, and thank you for making this such a supportive place to sew and learn together.
Leveling up celebration!
July theme announcement
Drumroll please...... This month we're diving into CASUAL JACKETS. Whether you're making a classic denim jacket, a cosy shacket, a bomber, chore jacket, utility jacket, anorak, or your own take on an everyday layer, this is your chance to build new skills while creating something you'll actually wear. Over the next few weeks we'll work through the project together using the 6-part framework, breaking the process into manageable stages so you can make steady progress without feeling overwhelmed. No matter where you're starting from, jump in, share your plans, and don't be afraid to ask questions. The whole point of Sewing Boss Learning Lab is to learn from each other and raise the standard of our sewing together. Let's make July the month everyone adds an incredible jacket to their handmade wardrobe! Image can be found here

As we come to the end of June, its time to decide on our project for next month. Collars can be fiddly, so how about we choose between a collared shirt, or a casual jacket. Tick one below
